Carroll at East Sac

East Sac 2

Carroll 0

A stalemate in the first half turned into a big turnaround for the East Sac Raiders Thursday as they hosted the Carroll Tigers.

Both teams have seen their fair share of tough games already this season and with win number two on the line for both teams. East Sac was able to push the ball on Carroll’s side plenty in the first half but didn’t see too many shots taken. The Tigers saw the same situation as well on the East Sac side of the pitch, leading to a 0-0 tie at halftime.

The Raiders seemed to find the answers in the second half. Sarah Bontrager was able to net her first goal of the season at the 29:54 mark and gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Kenna Meyer followed up that goal with another at 18:07 to make it a 2-0 East Sac lead. Meyer told Carroll Broadcasting that it was strange playing against individuals she’s so close to, but she knew this win meant a lot to her team. The Raiders were able to keep their defense strong and played a good majority of the second half on the Carroll side of the pitch. After the final horn sounded, the Raiders were victorious by a final score of 2-0.

Kiley Riesberg for Carroll ended up with nine saves in total with Denae Thayer catching 12 saves. Macey Weber and Paige Potthoff for Carroll had three shots on goal. The Raiders are now 2-3 overall on the season while the Tigers fall to 1-9 overall. East Sac will be on the road on Friday, April 28th when they take on West Central Valley. Carroll is back in action on Saturday, April 29th when they compete at the Monarch Tourney at Denison Schleswig.
