Carroll at East Sac

Carroll 3

East Sac 2

One of the more exciting comebacks of the year occurred in Wall Lake Thursday when the Carroll Tigers overcame a 2-0 deficit in the second half to defeat the East Sac Raiders.

The Tigers were looking for back-to-back for the first time this season while East Sac was trying to win number two overall. East Sac’s Isiah Aragon got the Raiders on the board quickly in the first half with 21:30 left. He got past the Tiger defense to give his team a 1-0 lead that stuck for the rest of the first half. Plenty of shots were taken on both sides, but both teams’ defenses were going to work.

In the second half, the Raiders extended their lead with a goal from Luke Wright again at the halfway point of the half. Wright scored with 22:30 left to get the Raiders ahead 2-0. Carroll’s luck changed quickly when Chase Ragaller got a much-needed goal in the back of the net off a header to cut the East Sac lead in half at 2-1. Grant Uhlenkamp worked off that momentum and got another goal at 16:16 to tie the match up at 2-2. A scramble for the ball ensued and Uhlenkamp waited till Luke Wernimont didn’t have a handle on the ball to net it in the right corner.

Carroll’s momentum didn’t slow down as they continued to press the middle and take away opportunities for East Sac to score. The final dagger to the heart was when Markus Wagner netted another goal for Carroll at 4:20 to give the Tigers their one and only lead of the game at 3-2. East Sac pushed the ball down the pitch and had chances to score, but the Carroll defense did their job and gave them the 3-2 win and back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The Tigers are now 4-6 overall on the season matching the most wins since the 2020-2021 season while East Sac falls to 1-4 overall on the season. Carroll is at home once again on Tuesday, May 2nd when they host Gilbert while East Sac is on the road on Friday, April 28th when they take on West Central Valley.
