Lewis Central at Kuemper
Lewis Central 7
Kuemper 2
The Kuemper Knights hosted their first tennis meet of the season as they hosted Lewis Central where they played the Titans well in singles, but ultimately lost in overall matches.
The Knights were only able to come away with two match wins overall, one in singles and one in doubles, but they had plenty of close matches. Manson Reicks picked up the lone singles win against Payton Fort, and he had to battle for that win. He was down 3-1 to start out and eventually clawed back down 6-5 to eventually win 8-6. Max Reincke battled well against Christian Jensen where he got down 4-1 and made a big comeback down 5-4. That was as close as the match got as Jensen pulled away to win 8-4. Jake Hausman and Colby Pudenz had similar close matches falling 8-5 and 8-6 respectively. Carter Running had the closest match in singles, taking it to extra sets. Eventually, his opponent, Colby Souther, pulled away for the 9-8 win.
In doubles, the Knights were still unable to fully figure out the Lewis Central players. The duo of Reincke and Braxton Lu had a nice match against Drew White and Broedy Johnson, but they eventually lost 8-5. The only win in doubles the Knights were able to get was when Carter Running and Colby Pudenz took on Colby Souther and Bryson Jesnen. The Knights’ duo was able to keep the match competitive and pull out the 8-6 win.
The Knights return to the courts on Monday, April 3rd when they travel to take on Atlantic.
