Spirit Lake used a 12-2 run in the 2nd quarter and a 13-2 run in the 3rd quarter to open up a close game. The Knights struggled offensively in the 2nd and 4th quarters scored a combined 12 points. Lauren Boell was hot early, keeping the Knights close as they trailed 13-10 at the end of the 1st quarter. They pulled within 1 in the 2nd quarter, but Spirit Lake responded with a 6-0 run that turned into a 12-2 run, putting them ahead by 11 at half. The Knights pulled within 8 in the 3rd but the Indians responded with another 6 point spurt that ended in a 13-2 run that put the game out of reach.

The Knights never led but Lauren Boell scored the first 8-points for the Knights, tying the game at 2 and 4, then pulling Kuemper within 9-6 and 11-8. Catherine Mayhall scored to end the 1st quarter with Kuemper down 13-10. A pair of Frannie Glynn free throws started the 2nd quarter and Kuemper had pulled within 1. Spirit Lake hit back-to-back 3’s, stretching the lead to 19-12. Mayhall hit a pair of free throws, pulling Kuemper within 6, at 20-14 but the Indians scored 5 straight, going up 25-14. Lauren Boell scored again, making it 25-16 but Kuemper trailed 27-16 at half.
Aubrey Heuton hit the Knights only 3 as they finished 1 for 8 to start the 3rd quarter, pulling Kuemper within 27-19. The Indians scored 5 straight to build the lead to 32-19 but Karsyn Overmohle made a nice runner in the lane, followed by a great drive and kick from Catherine Mayhall to Frannie Glynn, who scored and was fouled. She hit the free throw, pulling Kuemper within 32-24. The Indians scored 8 of the next 10 points, part of a 13-2 run, going up 47-28. Elsa Tiefenthaler had a nice assist to Aubrey Heuton, followed by a Catherine Mayhall bucket. The Knights trailed by 15 and that would as close as they would get the rest of the game.
Lauren Boell and Catherine Mayhall both scored 10 points to lead Kuemper. Aubrey Heuton and Frannie Glynn each scored 5 points and were the leading rebounders for Kuemper. Glynn had a team high 8 and Heuton finished with 6 rebounds. Catherine Mayhall led Kuemper with 2 assists and 2 steals. Kuemper turned the ball over 24 times, finishing with 5 assists on 12 made baskets as they shot 35.3% from the field.
The loss drops Kuemper to 4-4 overall. They head to St Albert on Tuesday to close out the prebreak schedule.

The Indians jumped out early, leading 22-8 at the end of the 1st quarter and 54-15 at half. The loss drops East Sac to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference.
Mary Bontrager led the Raiders with 13 points, adding 5 rebounds. Makenna Steiger had 4 steals and 4 assists, both team highs. Chloe Bieret added 5 points and Addisen Ehler pulled down 4 rebounds.
