Glidden-Ralston at Coon Rapids-Bayard
Coon Rapids-Bayard 48
Glidden-Ralston 33
Our game on KIK 106.7 as Coon Rapids-Bayard hosted Glidden-Ralston in a big early season conference matchup. The Crusaders had some early season struggles with losses to Exira-EHK and Kuemper while the Wildcats came in at 3-1 on the year. It was a very slow offensive quarter for the Wildcats in the 1st as they would total up just two points. The Wildcats young crew handled the Crusaders press and zone well but just did not knock down shots early. CRB Senior group really shined as they would go up 11-2 after 1. In the 2nd the Wildcats once again handled the pressure well but a couple of missed opportunities and turnovers led to plenty of buckets for the Crusaders as they led 22-7 at the half. All of the top 5 scorers for CRB were their stellar senior class with Malia Clayburg having her best game of the season with 15 points and 15 rebound as well as 5 steals and 6 block. The Wildcats would creep back to down 11 than 13 than 11 in the 3rd but CRB really kept their foot on the gas to maintain a 35-21 lead into the 4th quarter. In the 4th it was Chloe Peters of Glidden-Ralston who shot the ball very well as she buried 2 threes but CRB kept the ball protected and held on after a big Ashton Klocke and-1 and a Lauren Cook steal turned bucket. The Crusaders would move to 3-2 on the season with the 48-33 win. The Wildcats also end up at 3-2.
