The East Sac Raiders used a high scoring second quarter to bring home their first win of the season as they got past Pocahontas Area Monday night.
Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season and the Raiders were able to find all of the right answers. The Indians were able to hold off East Sac for the time being in the first quarter, leading 12-10. In the second quarter, it was all Raiders as they changed the momentum to a 25-4 quarter and took the lead at 35-16 going into halftime. Luke Wright had a solid night for the Raiders, putting up 19 points and six rebounds. Aden Vondrak and Brody Boeckman were the defensive stars as they’d both get four steals against the Indians.
In the second half, the Raiders were just as dangerous. They continued to keep the pressure on with a 16-11 third quarter to keep their lead alive at 51-27. Despite a large lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Raiders continued to pour on the points with 23 in the final eight minutes. After the dust settled, the Raiders were victorious by a final score of 74-38. The win raises the Raiders to 1-3 overall on the season and 1-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. Ryan Clair had another solid night for the Raiders, putting up a double-double performance with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Aden Vondrak also led the team in assists with nine in this game.
East Sac’s final game before the Christmas break will be on the road against Southeast Valley on Tuesday, December 20th.

The Paton Churdan Rockets finished up their first half of basketball action before the Christmas break with a road game at Woodward Granger Monday night.
The Hawks carried a 3-4 record into this game with Paton Churdan still chasing their first win of the season. Woodward Granger would get out to a quick start and would find themselves up 49-13 at halftime. Cayden Stream and Shaydon Thurman had solid performances for the Rockets, putting up nine and eight points respectively. In the second half, the Hawks continued to put points on the board and eventually came away with the 82-27 win. The Rockets return to action on Tuesday, January 3rd when they travel to take on Ar-We-Va.
