East Sac scored early and then held on with Luke Wright and Bradyn Burns intercepting passes, clinching the win and the playoffs with Burns interception with 0:22 left in the game. The Raiders scored on their first two drives of the game, building a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter. They added a touchdown in the 2nd quarter to answer a score by West Monona, giving them a 21-8 lead at half. The offense struggled in the 2nd half but the defense continued to play well, allowing one long drive for a touchdown, but coming up with two big interceptions. Luke Wright picked off the first pass on a 4th and goal from the 16-yard line, then Bradyn Burns sealing the win with an interception on West Monona’s final possession. The win sends the Raiders two West Sioux, Hawarden on Friday for the opening round of the Class 1A playoffs.

East Sac took the opening drive, marching 65-yards, scoring on a 3-yard run by Charlie Veit. The Raiders led 7-0 with 5:32 left in the quarter, eating up 6:27 on the clock. The defense forced a three and out, giving East Sac great field position at the Spartans 38-yard line. They would capitalize, scoring on an 8-play drive with Luke Wright rambling 5-yards to the end zone. The lead was 14-0 with 11:56 left in the half. West Monona answered with an impressive 8-play 80 yard drive, cutting the deficit to 14-8 with 8:41 left in the half. East Sac extended the lead just before half. Luke Wright scored on an 8-yard run with 1:30 left, finishing a 4-play, 36-yard drive. The defense set up the touchdown with a stop on 4th down at the Spartans 36-yard line. East Sac went three and out to open the 2nd half and West Monona marched 65-yards on 14-plays, pulling within 21-16. After another Raider punt the Spartans looked like they may take the lead but they faced a 4th and goal from the 16-yard line. Luke Wright picked off the pass, keeping the Raiders with the lead. East Sac was forced to punt again after an 8-play drive moved the ball out of their end. Bradyn Burns sealed the win on the second play of the drive with an interception.

Luke Wright was 6-9 passing for 80-yards and ran for 51-yards and a pair of touchdowns on 9 carries. Landon Grindle ran the ball 11 times for 61-yards. Logan Schroeder had 8 carries for 47-yards and Charlie Veit added 11 carries for 40-yards and a touchdown. Sam Julin caught 1 pass for 29-yards, Bradyn Burns 2 catches for 24-yards and Charlie Veit added 2 catches for 22-yards. Karter Ludwig had 9 tackles, Luke Wernimont finished with 6.5 tackles and Charlie Veit had 5.5 tackles. Luke Wright and Bradyn Burns had interceptions. Wright was 3-3 on PAT’s.

The Raiders finish the season 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the district, finishing in 4th place. They will head to West Sioux on Friday. West Sioux the season 7-1 overall with their only loss to Central Lyon/George Little Rock.
