Coon Rapids Bayard started quickly, striking for three touchdown passes in the 1st quarter. They lead 18-6 after the 1st quarter with Cal Heydon having 3 touchdown catches for a total of 83 yards. That included a 50-yard grab. The offense wasn’t able to keep their momentum as the Crusaders struggled to establish their ground game. They finished with 109 yards rushing on 44 carries, averaging just 2.5 yards per carry. West Harrison was able to contain the passing game in the 2nd quarter, pulling within 18-14 at half. The game turned in the 3rd quarter as the Hawkeyes scored 21 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter, going ahead 35-18. West Harrison was able to establish the ground attack, finishing with 313 yards on 37 carries. They scored all five touchdowns on the ground, averaging 8.5 yards per carry, helped by touchdown runs of 41 and 50 yards. The Crusaders did force a couple turnovers with Lance Clayburg recovering a fumble and picking off a pass.

Wyatt Oswald was effective for the Crusaders throwing the ball, going 9-13 from 158 yards with 2 touchdowns while Lance Clayburg went 1-3 for 12 yards and a touchdown. Clayburg carried the ball 21 times for 88 yards. Omarion Floyd added 38 yards on 7 carries. Cal Heydon had 3 catches for 83 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kolby Culbertson added 3 catches for 62 yards. Wyatt Oswald led the defensive effort with 8 tackles, Cal Heydon had 6.5 tackles.

Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in district play. They head to Audubon on 93.7 KKRL on Friday.
