In a matchup of two undefeated teams, Kuemper was able to strike with plenty of big defensive plays to cruise past Greene County Friday.
The big plays from Kuemper happened right out of the gate when DJ Vonnahme grabbed an interception on Greene County’s first offensive drive to set up a quick scoring drive. Vonnahme plunged into the end zone for one of his four touchdowns of the game. Greene County’s offense had some big running plays, slipping past the Kuemper defense at times, but penalties held them back more times than not.
Chris Mohr for Kuemper had a big game with a blocked punt and fumble recovery that set up two scoring drives for Kuemper. The Rams were kept away from the endzone in the first half with Kuemper leading 21-0.
In the second half, Kuemper kept their defense sharp while Greene County kept getting penalized. Taye Vonnahme got on a streak of strong runs and even got a touchdown himself from 45 yards out after slipping past two Greene County players. Kuemper got two more touchdowns in the second half and ended up with a 35-0 win.
The win extended Kuemper’s win streak to 3-0. They will travel to take on MVAOCOU on Friday.
