Carroll was in control for the get go and dominated on both sides of the ball on Friday, cruising to a big road win to improve to 2-1 overall. Carroll led 15-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and put the game away by half, leading 35-0. Carroll scored on big plays, long drives, on the ground and through the air. The defense was dominant, only allowing the Yellow Jackets to get near midfield a couple times. They didn’t take a snap in Carroll territory during the game.
Carroll put up 433 yards of total offense, rushing for 372 yards while averaging 8.1 yards per carry. They didn’t have to throw the ball much, with Jack White going 2-3 for 51 yards and a touchdown and Carter Essick finishing 1-1 for 10 yards and a touchdown. Reece Ziegmann had his second big game running the ball this season. The Sophomore only carried the ball 14 times, finishing with 197 yards and 2 touchdowns. He averaged 14.1 yards per carry. Cooper Ludwig added 81 yards on 12 carries with 2 touchdowns, Carter Smith had 35 yards on 7 carries and a touchdown and Jack White punched in the Tigers other score. The continuous clock to start the 2nd half, limited the amount of touches the Tigers got in the 2nd half. Ziegmann had a nice night catching the ball, with 2 catches for 51 yards a touchdown. Evan Hammer also had a touchdown catch.
Cooper Ludwig paced the Tigers on defense with 7.5 tackles, 6 of them solo and 2.5 for a loss. Carroll had 10.5 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks. Eight different defenders made a tackle for loss. Kieran P0lking knocked in 6 extra points in his first varsity action and had one kick for a touchback.
Carroll improved to 2-0 on the road this season. They return home against Storm Lake on Friday. The Tornadoes are 0-3 on the season.
