Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Carroll and East Sac Boys Get Great Defensive Efforts on Friday

The match on Friday might have been decided by a couple of bounces. Ballard scored the lone goal with 8:57 left in the 1st half on a scramble inside the box. The ball slipped into the net to give the Bombers the lead. Carroll had numerous opportunities throughout the game, but couldn’t get the bounce. Clayton Weitl finished with 7 shots on goal as the Tigers took 14 shots in the game. Twice in the 1st half Weitl had good looking shots that just missed wide. Chase Ragaller had a tap in the barely missed the back of the net in the 1st half. Carroll trailed 1-0 at half but had chances to blow the game open. The 2nd half was more of the same for Carroll. Clayton Weitl sent a corner kick that Trey Hunter headed late in the game, but Ballard stopped it just before it went in. creating a scramble for the ball. Ballard was able to clear the ball with no damage done. Carroll had several chances in the final minutes and  nearly scored late with Markus Wagner punching the ball inside the 18 but Ballard cleared it with 8 seconds remaining to clinch the game.

Tanner Heithoff finished with 10 saves. Trey Hunter took 3 shots on goal.

Carroll falls to 3-11 overall and 0-8 in the Raccoon River Conference. They will look to bounce back Monday when they host Underwood.

The defense gave East Sac a chance on Friday, with an outstanding effort in front of Nick Crabb, who finished with 22 saves. The Raiders scored midway through the 1st half when Isaiah Aragon scored on a penalty kick with 20:00 left in the half. That sent the game to halftime tied at 1-1. The Raiders offense struggled to get looks and Greene County wore them down, scoring three times in the 2nd half.

Isaiah Aragon scored the Raiders lone goal and Elias Aragon and Max Doepke each had a shot on goal to go with Nick Crabb’s 22 saves.

The loss drops the Raiders to 2-7 overall. They host Riverside at Noon on Saturday.
