South Central Calhoun came out with first match jitters and though they settled in during the second set they fell in their season opener. Ridge View was the aggressor at the net most of the night as the Titans played out of system, sending over pushes and free balls. South Central Calhoun tied set 1 at 8 before Ridge View took control, building a 15-8 lead. Alexa Holm led a Titan rally, serving a 4-point run, pulling the Titans within 19-17. The Raptors responded, going up 21-17 and building the lead to 24-19.
The second set was better for South Central Calhoun as they went up 2-0 early and led late 22-21 on a block by Mollie Monahan. Riley Batta picked up a nice kill moments later tying the score at 23 after the Raptors had scored twice in a row. Ridge View pulled out set two on an in the net call against South Central Calhoun. The set had 5 lead changes and was tied 9 times. The Titans biggest lead was 18-15 while Ridge View led 13-9.
The Titans scored the first two points in set 3 but Ridge View rallied, taking a 3-2 lead. The Titans had their final lead of the night at 6-5. The Raptors went ahead 7-6 and build the lead to 16-8. The final set was tied 3 times and featured 3 lead changes.
South Central Calhoun opens the season 0-1 and the 13th ranked (Class 2A) Titans head to the Humboldt tournament on Saturday.

Glidden Ralston was sharp in the win over Collins Maxwell, holding the Spartans to 1 kill while hitting 23 kills of their own. The Wildcats were balanced with Paige Klocke leading the way with 9 kills, Vanessa Koehler 6 kills and Lauren Hulsing 5 kills while Ashlynn Tigges and Brenna Schon each had 1 kill. Addy Boell did a nice job finding the hitters that were swinging well and feeding them, finishing with 18 assists. The defense was key to the teams success, holding Collins Maxwell under 10 points in both sets. Tiela Janssen led the back row with 4 digs while Summer Toms, Addy Boell and Vanessa Koehler all had 2 digs.

The Wildcats went 1-1 on the night falling in two sets to Greene County. Glidden Ralston had five players with at least one kill with Lauren Hulsing pacing the team with 5, Paige Klocke and Vanessa Koehler both had 3. Addy Boell had 10 assists on 13 team kills. Tiela Janssen and Ashlynn Tigges were busy in the back row, with Janssen digging 20 shots and Tigges finishing with 11 digs. Lauren Hulsing had both of the Wildcats blocks.
The Wildcats start the season 1-1 and will travel to West Central Valley Thursday, September 1st.
