Boys and Girls Track Results For Thursday, May 9th
The Carroll boys and girls track teams competed Thursday in Atlantic for a chance to go to the state track meet in Des Moines next week. The Carroll girls sprint medley started the running events off with a bang as they finished in second place, running a time of 1:53.53. Brenna Goins, Libby Perkins, Marasyn Wittrock, and Marie Dea qualify for the state meet with a second-place finish. The Carroll girls continued to have a great showing as both Emma Kuhlmann and Olivia Rowedder qualified for the state in the shot put. Kuhlmann finished in first with a throw of 39-00, and Rowedder was second with a throw of 37-00. Rowedder will double dip in field events as she qualified in the discus with a throw of 117-02. Marie Dea of the Tigers won the open 400 meters in a tight race. Dea finished first with a run of 58.84. Dea followed up with a first-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:24.62. The Carroll girls wrapped up their night with a first-place finish in the 4×400. Marasyn Wittrock, Averi Burke, Katelyn Aden, and Marie Dea ran a time of 4:04.44.
The Carroll boys’ best finish was third in the 4×800. Blake Molinsky, Evan Schaefer, Dayton Wiederin, and Ryan North ran a time of 8:32.97. Ryan North also finished third in the open 800 with a time of 2:00.06.
