The Carroll Tigers pick up a win at home over Denison-Schleswig to open up the first round of the 4A playoffs. The Carroll offense struggled to get shots to fall at times during the game. Carroll never led in the first quarter as both teams out of the gate struggled on offense. Carroll only hit two shots from the floor in the first quarter. Denison-Schleswig led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter. To start the second quarter, Carroll went on an 8-0 run and took the lead at 18-11. Once the Tigers took the lead, they never gave it up. Carroll would outscore Denison-Schleswig 21-11 in the quarter. In the second quarter, Denison-Schleswig went on a 5:00-minute scoring drought. Carroll would lead at the half 31-22.
Coming out of the locker room, the Tiger offense struggled again in the third quarter, and Denison-Schleswig was able to cut into the Carroll lead. Carroll would lead 39-33 going to the fourth quarter. Denison-Schleswig cut the lead to four in the fourth quarter at 39-35, but that was the closest the game would get. Carroll outscored Denison-Schleswig in the fourth quarter 14-8. Katelyn Aden and Sophia Tidgren each hit a three-point shot in the quarter to spark the Tigers’ offense. Carroll would go on to win 53-41.
The Tigers had a balanced scoring attack offensively in the win. Katelyn Aden and Sophia Tidgren each recorded a team-high 15 points. Oliva Rowedder chipped in 10 for. Nine of Rowedder’s ten came in the first half, helping the Tigers take the lead. With the win, Carroll improves to 12-9 on the season. The Tigers travel to take on Lewis Central on Saturday.
