Woodward Granger strikes first with back-to-back singles. Cascade tried to pick off the runner at 1st from home and the throw went into right field, scoring Sam Sejnoha. Nick Rees singles to score Brody Nardini. Hawks lead 2-0 after top 1st. Cascade nearly answered as Cade Rausch singled, Jack Menster walked, and Ty Frasher reached on an error in left field to load the bases with 1 out. Brody Nardini gets a strikeout and a fly to center to end the inning and Woodward Granger keeps a 2-0 lead after 1 inning. Woodward Granger kept the pressure on in the top 2nd. Landon Chambers walked and was bunted to 2nd by Kaden Seeman. He scored on a single to right by Ethan Moats. Brody Nardini with an infield single, scoring Moats and Woodward Granger was up 4-0 going bottom 2nd. Cascade catches a break in the bottom 2nd as Mick Hoffman starts a rally, reaching on an error, followed by singles from Schockemoehl, Rausch and Menster, scoring 2-runs. They trailed 4-2 after 2 innings. Nick Rees with a 1-out double for Woodward Granger, their 6th hit of the game. Cade Rausch strikes out the next two batters for Cascade, ending the top 3rd with his Cougars trailing by 2. Cascade started catching up to Brody Nardini in the 2nd inning, continuing that in the 3rd. Mason Otting with a single to deep left, followed by bunt singles from Cass Hoffman and Will Hosch loaded the bases with no outs. Mick Hoffman sac fly to right cuts it to 4-3 on a bang-bang play at home. Woodward Granger intentional walked Cade Rausch to face Jack Menster with the bases loaded and 2-out and Menster triples to deep center, giving Cascade a 6-4 lead after 3 innings. Cade Rausch found his rhythm for Cascade striking out 4 straight Hawks before walking Sam Sejnoha with 2-outs top 4th. Then strikes out Brody Nardini to end the inning. He has struck out 6. Cascade leads 6-4 going bottom 4th.
Ty Frasher with a triple to deep centerfield started things off for Cascade in the bottom 4th. Mason Otting drives him in with a deep fly ball to right for a sacrifice. Caccade takes a 7-4 lead into the 5th. Cade Rausch has taken over on the mound for Cascade, striking out seven the last nine batters, getting two in the top 5th. Jack Menster singled with 2-outs in the bottom 5th for Cascade but is thrown out trying to steal 2nd base. A pair of errors in the top of the 6th helps Woodward Granger score a pair of runs on a single by Sam Sejnoha, pulling them within 7-6. Cascade doesn’t score bottom 6th, stranding a runner at 1st for their sixth runner left on base today. Mason Otting made a great leaping catch with 1-out top of the 7th and Cascade holds on for a 7-6 win.
Jack Menster had 3 hits with a triple and 4 runs batted in while Cade Rausch added a pair of hits and earned the win, going 7 innings with 7 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 9. Ty Frasher tripled and scored.
Sam Sejnoha had a pair of hits and drove in 2-runs for Woodward Granger. Brody Nardini added 2 hits and an RBI. Nick Rees doubled as part of 2 hits with an RBI and Ethan Moats had a hit, driving in a run and scoring.
Cascade moves to Thursday’s semifinal with a 25-8 record while Woodward Granger ends their season at 20-6.
