Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Six Area Boys Golf Teams Competed on Thursday

Boys Golf Results Thursday, May 4th

Kuemper At Hawkeye 10 Conference Tournament At Atlantic 

There were four teams within 5 strokes of first place at the Hawkeye 10 Conference tournament in Atlantic on Thursday. Kuemper came within a stroke of winning, but finished 2nd with a 317, one stroke behind Harlan and two strokes ahead of 3rd place Denison Schleswig which shot a 319. Atlantic was also in the hunt, finishing 4th with a 325. Denison Schleswig did claim one title with Easton Embrey winning Medalist with a 73, edging Jade Spangler of Shenandoah, who shot a 74 and finished as Runner-Up Medalist. 

Kuemper had two players in the top 5 with Maverick Schwabe shooting a 76 to finish 3rd, Braxton Vonnahme also shot a 76 and finished in 5th place. Will Simons added an 82 and Carter Putney finished with a 83 for the Knights.

      Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden Ralston At Rolling Valley Conference Meet At Carroll Muni

      CAM Anita won the meet in Carroll on Thursday but Coon Rapids Bayard claimed the season title on points. The Cougars swept the team and individual honors Thursday with Chase Jahde the Medalist with a 71 and Seth Hensley Runner-Up Medalist with a 78. They shot a 324 as a team to top the Crusaders who finished with a 341. Glidden Ralston finished in 6th place with a 415. 

      The Crusaders had three players in the top 10 with Jacob Estrada taking 4th with an 84, Toby Benninger also shot an 84, finishing in 6th with Max Shirbroun in 7th with an 85. Logan Kenyon had an 88 as all four Crusaders shot in the 80’s. 

      John Whitver and Mark Lensch paced the Wildcats with each shooting a 102. Colby Wallace added a 105 and Blayce Nelson finished with a 106 for the Wildcats. 

      Jacob Estrada and Gavin Heiderschiet of Coon Rapids Bayard were named 1st team all conference and Toby Benninger, Max Shirbroun and Logan Kenyon were named 2nd team.

            IKM-Manning At Missouri Valley

            IKM-Manning 201

             

            Missouri Valley won the team battle and picked up medalist and runner-up medalist honors against the Wolves on Thursday. IKM-Manning shot a 201 with Josh Walker leading them with a 44, followed by Zander Richards with a 50 and Kasche Huehn with a 51. The Wolves had three guys in the 50’s with Devyn Sander shooting a 56. Missouri Valley had a strong day with three golfers in the 30’s with Jackson Tennis and Evan White both shooting a 35. Tennis won the handicap tie breaker to earn Medalist and White was Runner-Up Medalist. Daylen Kocour finished with a 39 for the Big Red.

            East Sac, GTRA and Manson NW Webster At Emmetsburg 

            Bradyn Burns led the Raiders on Thursday, taking 5th place with a 39 as the Raiders ended up 4th with a 187 in the team standings. Emmetsburg won the title with a 152, eleven strokes ahead of 2nd place Manson NW Webster. Carter Hogrefe just missed the top 10 for the Raiders, shooting a 42 and finishing 11th. Chase Brockman added a 52 and Carter Erritt finished with a 54. Josh Matheasen of Emmetsburg was the Medalist with a 35, edging Tucker Smith of Manson NW Webster who also shot a 35 and was Runner-Up Medalist.

            South Central Calhoun, Sioux Central and SE Valley At Newell Fonda

            South Central Calhoun continues their strong season, winning the quad in Newell Fonda, shooting a 158 to Newell Fonda’s 163. The Titans also earned Runner-Up Medalist honors with Justin Hanks shooting a 37, one stroke behind Mason Dicks of Newell Fonda who earned Medalist with a 36. The Titans were really consistent as a team with three golfers in the 30’s and their other three in the 40’s. Hanks paced them with a 37 while Bryan Steig was a shot back with a 38, Charlie Nattress had a 39 and Caleb Gaffney finished with a 44.
