The Kuemper Knights opened their season on the road against Lewis Central. The Knights return a good group from last year’s team, which showed Tuesday against the Titans. The Knights’ defense was excellent all game, holding Lewis Central to only two goals. Sophomore Brianna Wittrock was outstanding in goal, finishing with 15 saves. Both of Lewis Central’s goals came in the first half. The Titans controlled possession on the offensive end most of the game, as Kuemper only had four shots on goal during the game. Defensively, Kuemper shut down Lewis Central in the second half but lost 2-0. With the loss Kuemper falls to 0-1 to start the season and 0-1 in the Hawkeye Ten. The Knights are back in action on Friday against Panorama.
