Boys Track- Top boys returning this season
The local area should be really strong in distance races and relays this season with Ryan North of Carroll, Jacob Greving of Kuemper and Zeke Konkler of Audubon leading the way. North and Greving will be contenders to win the 1600 Meters and 3200 Meters in every meet this season and both should have success in relays. Konkler is a strong mid-distance runner and will excel in the 400 Meters and 800 Meters along with being a tremendous asset in relays, shining in four different relays last season. Aaron Olsen of Audubon gives the Wheelers two of the top runners this season and will be strong in sprint, relays and hurdle events.
Coon Rapids Bayard is going to be loaded with five guys that should contend to make State in four events. Their depth shines in relays with Cal Heydon, Kolby Culbertson and Omarion Floyd returning from successful seasons in individual events as well as relays. Parker Hays and Wyatt Oswald were outstanding in relays last season and could slide into individual events this season.
Parker Engel of East Sac is coming off a tremendous cross country season and should be one of the top distance runners this season. He was strong a year ago but could be poised to take a step forward in track this spring.
Ross Kusel gives IKM-Manning a potential four event qualifier and Lane Sams should shine with more chances to fill what could be strong and deep relays, though the Wolves graduated a strong class. They were deep a year ago and may not see much dropoff.
Ben Gerken, Evan Adams and DJ Vonnahme could all have big seasons for the Knights. All were multi State Meet entrants a season ago. Adams and Vonnahme should be recovered from injuries they suffered this fall.
Zakiah Pettigrew qualified in three events last season for South Central Calhoun and will be looking to fine tune his skills before heading off to run in college. He will be one of the top hurdlers in the local area.
