South Central Calhoun had a few chances to take the lead in the 3rd quarter but struggled from the field over the final 14:00 of the half, scoring 12-points for the half in a 49-32 loss. The Titans fell behind early, tying the game at 2, but never taking a lead. They trailed by as many as 10 in the 1st half but a Bre Patterson three to start the 3rd quarter pulled them within 26-23. A 13-2 run by the Jaguars put the game out of reach. South Central Calhoun scored 2-points the rest of the 3rd quarter, then struggled to score in the 4th quarter, getting the final 4-points in the game to finish with 7-points in the 4th quarter. They were outscored 23-11 in the 2nd half, finishing the game 13-60 from the field and 3-19 from beyond the arc.
Macie Dorman scored to tie the game at 2, then pulled the Titans within 7-4 before Sadie Wheelock scored to pull them within 10-6 and Olivia Toms added a bucket to make it 12-8. The Jaguars went on a 6-0 run to close the 1st quarter with a 18-8 lead. A Dorman three early in the 2nd quarter cut a 10-point deficit to 7, followed by a Blair Schleisman bucket, cutting their deficit to 20-16. The Titans had a couple possessions with a chance to cut into the deficit more but weren’t able to and SE Valley extended their lead to 24-16. Bre Patterson and Macie Dorman pulled the Titans within 24-20 but SE Valley led 26-20 at half.
A Bre Patterson three to open the 2nd half cut the Titans deficit to 26-23 and the Titans had several possessions with a chance to cut into the deficit but weren’t able to score. SE Valley scored 4 straight on their way to a 13-2 run. The Titans never got any closer as the offense struggled.
Macie Dorman led the Titans with 11-pionts with Bre Patterson adding 8-pionts and 5 rebounds. Mia Babcock added 8 rebounds. Blair Schleisman had 5-points and 4 rebounds.
The loss drops the Titans to 2-5 overall as they prepare to host Emmetsburg on Friday on KIKD 106.7.
