The Ar-We-Va Rockets pick up their first win of the season on the road Tuesday against Paton Churdan. In the battle of two Rocket teams, Paton Churdan took an early lead over Ar-We-Va at the end of the first quarter, 9-5. Ar-We-Va played better in the second quarter, taking an 18-10 lead into the locker rooms as they outscored PC 13-1 in the quarter. Ar-We-Va continued the play great coming out of the half as they extended their lead going into the fourth quarter. Ar-We-Va outscored Paton Churdan 16-7 and took a 34-17 lead going into the fourth. Again, in the final quarter, Ar-We-Va extended their lead as they held PC scoreless and went on to win 47-17.
Ar-We-Va had nine different girls get into the scoring column against Paton Churdan. The Rockets were led by Makayla Schrad, who had nine points. Emma Leiting and Delaney Schurke each recorded eight points for Ar-We-Va. Amber Ragaller and Gabrielle Hundling each had six points for the Rockets. Paton Churdan was led by freshman Kaliyah Minnehan, who recorded nine points. Ella Tasler was PC’s second-leading scorer with six points. Ar-We-Va is back in action on Friday against Exira-EHK. Paton Churdan’s next game is on Friday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

The Carroll Tigers found out a lot about their team against a good North Polk team. Carroll struggled to shoot, only hitting on three the whole game. Carroll kept it close in the first quarter after North Polk jumped out to an 11-2 lead. The Tigers went 5-7 from the free-throw line in the first quarter. North Polk would lead Carroll at the end of the quarter 16-8. Chloe Kock was the only Tiger to score in double figures, as she finished with eight in the first half. The second quarter was the closest score-wise as North Polk outscored Carroll 10-7 and led 26-15 at the half. The Tigers struggled to score in the second half, as they only managed nine points total. North Polk outscored Carroll 33-9 in the second half as they went on to win 59-24.
Chloe Kock scored ten points as the only Tiger in double figures. Carroll had seven different girls score against North Polk. Olivia Rowedder was a significant factor on the boards for Carroll as she pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. The Tigers only managed six field goals from the floor. Carroll turned the ball over 24 times and only recorded four assists as a team. Carroll is back in action against Storm Lake on Saturday at home.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders continued their dominant start to the season with a blowout win over West Harrison on Tuesday night. The Crusaders scored in double figures in each quarter. Eight different CRB girls scored against West Harrison. The Crusaders started the game as they jumped out to a quick double-digit lead at the end of the first quarter, 23-10. CRB picked up the defensive play in the second quarter as they held West Harrison to only four points as they took a 37-14 lead going to the half. The second half was all CRB, as well. They outscored West Harrison by 15 points in the second half. The Crusaders would lead 53-22 going into the fourth quarter. CRB would go on to beat West Harrison 67-29.
Anna Hart had a double-double for the Crusaders, recording a team-high 24 points and 14 steals. Breeley Clayburg was the second leading scorer for CRB, as she recorded 16 points. Malia Clayburg was the third Crusader in double figures as she scored 15 points against West Harrison. Breeley Clayburg pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. As a team, CRB recorded 33 steals. Aubrey Hofbauer led the Crusaders in assists with four. With the win, CRB improved to 3-0 on the young season. CRB is back in action against Boyer Valley on Thursday. With the win, CRB also stands alone in first place in the Rolling Valley at 3-0.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats drop their second straight game as they fall to Exira-EHK on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell down early in the first quarter and never recovered, as they would trail 19-4 going to the second. In the second quarter, Glidden-Ralston got more shots to fall than in the first but still trailed Exira going into the locker rooms 35-14. Exira-EHK looked like a different team in the third quarter, as the Wildcats had no answers for the Spartan’s offense. Glidden-Ralston was outscored 26-11 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was the only quarter Glidden-Ralston outscored Exira. The Wildcats put up nine points in the quarter but would go on to lose 69-34.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by Tiela Janssen, who had 15 points. Janssen was the only Glidden-Ralston player to score in double figures Tuesday night. Kassidy Wenck was the second-leading scorer with nine points for Glidden-Ralston. For Exira-EHK, Kadence Sporrer, who goes to Audubon, had 16 points. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston falls to 2-2 on the season. The Wildcats are back in action on Thursday against Greene County.

IKM-Manning vs AHSTW

IKM-Manning falls on Tuesday to AHSTW, a Wester Iowa Conference team. IKM-Manning struggled in the first quarter as they found themselves down 9-0 early and would trail AHSTW 16-4 after the first quarter. AHSTW would build a 21-6 lead in the second quarter before IKM-Manning would end the quarter on a 7-4 run. The Wolves would go into the halftime down 25-13. IKM-Manning was down by ten early second quarter but fought hard as they attempted a comeback. The Wolves cut it to a nine point game but trailed 34-22 going to the fourth quarter. AHSTW built a 41-25 lead late fourth, but IKM-Manning would end the quarter on a 6-0 run. The Wolves would go on a fall by ten to AHSTW 41-31.
Anna Stangl was the only IKM-Manning girl in double figures, as she recorded 19 points. Emma Reginato was the second-leading scorer with six points. With the loss, IKM-Manning drops to 0-4 on the season. The Wolves are back in action on Friday against Tri-Center on 93.7 KKRL.

Kuemper battled back from a bad start, down 15-0 to have a chance to tie it or take a lead in the 2nd quarter, but Harlan ended the half on a run and pulled away in the 3rd quarter, sending the Knights to their 3rd loss to start the season.
Molly Swensen came in averaging 7 points per game. She topped that in the first few minutes of the game, hitting a pair of three early, helping the Cyclones build a 10-0 lead in a 1:25 of the 1st quarter. The lead grew to 15-0 before Lauren Boell scored to get the Knights on the board. Kuemper chipped away the rest of the 1st quarter, getting buckets from Boell again along with Frannie Glynn and a three from Karsyn Overmohle and Kuemper trailed 16-9 heading to the 2nd quarter. Elsa Tiefenthaler hit a three to start the 2nd quarter, pulling the Knights to 16-12. Aubrey Heuton kept them close before Charlotte Hackfort hit a pair of free throws, then Frannie Glynn scored inside, and Hackfort hit another bucket, cutting the deficit to 21-19. Kuemper had a couple of possessions with a chance to tie or take the lead but didn’t capitalize, and Harlan went back up 24-19, then closed the half 7-3 run to lead 31-22 at the half.
Harlan put the game away in the 3rd quarter, holding Kuemper scoreless early while extending the lead. A 5-0 Cyclone run made it 36-22 before Lauren Boell scored to break the seal for Kuemper. Harlan responded with a 7-0 run to put them up 46-24. early in the 4th quarter. After scoring just 2 points in the 3rd quarter, the Knights came out aggressive in the 4th quarter, getting buckets from Aubrey Heuton and Karsyn Overmohle, then a three from Elsa Tiefenthaler. Kuemper pulled within 14 points with around 3:00 left, but Harlan stopped the momentum and held on for the win.
Frannie Glynn had a great game on the boards with 15 rebounds. Karsyn Overmohle led them with 9 points, followed by Aubrey Heuton’s 8 points and 6 points from Elsa Tiefenthaler, Lauren Boell, and Charlotte Hackfort. Tiefenthaler added 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Knights slipped to 0-3 and will head to Red Oak on Friday.

The South Central Calhoun Titans picked up their second win of the season with a big win over Webster City. The first quarter was the best for SCC as they played great defensively and on the offensive end. The Titans jumped out to a 23-5 lead going into the second quarter. SCC kept up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, only holding Webster City to six points as they would take a 36-11 lead into the locker room. The Second half was a lot closer than the first. SCC still outscored Webster City in the third 18-10, as they would take a 54-21 lead going to the final quarter. The fourth quarter was the only quarter where Webster City outscored SCC. Webster City put up 21 points in the quarter, but SCC would go on to win 66-42.
For the Titans, they were led in scoring by Adlen Wheelock who had 11 points off the bench. SCC had a balanced offensive attack as five girls scored anywhere from eight to 11 points. Mia Babcock was the second-leading scorer for SCC with eight points. Brenna McAlister, Blair Schleisman, and Bre Patterson each recorded seven points. Every girl that played for SCC got into the scoring column Tuesday night. With the win, SCC moves to 2-3 on the season. The Titans will be back in action on Friday against GTRA.
