The Ar-We-Va Rockets fell on the road in a close district matchup against a big Boyer Valley team Friday night. Boyer Valley got the football to start the game and took almost six minutes off the clock as they drove down the field to take an early 7-0 lead over Ar-We-Va. On the Rocket’s first drive, they converted on fourth down as Blayne Smith found Wade Ragaller for a 19-yard touchdown. Ar-We-Va missed the extra point, and Boyer Valley held on to a 7-6 lead. Both defenses started strong, and the score would remain at 7-6 going to the half. The Rockets took the lead early in the third quarter when Wade Ragaller had a 31-yard touchdown catch as Ar-We-Va took a brief 12-7 lead.
On the next Boyer Valley possession, they scored on the first play of the drive on a 56-yard touchdown run as they regained the lead at 13-12. Neither team would score the rest of the quarter. Going to the fourth, Boyer Valley was able to extend their lead to 20-12 over the Rockets. Blayne Smith was picked off on the Rocket’s next drive, and Boyer Valley extended their lead to 27-13. Ar-We-Va, down by two scores, were able to cut it to a one-score lead when Smith found Harley Molina for a 17-yard touchdown to cut it to 27-20. Ar-We-Va got the ball back late but could not score, as Boyer Valley would come out with a 27-20 victory.
Blayne Smith completed 21 of his 34 pass attempts for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Wade Ragaller caught six passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Ar-We-Va stuggled to run the football as they only recorded 51 yards as a team. Tyson VonGlan led the Rockets in tackles with ten. With the loss Ar-We-Va ends their season with a 5-3 recored.
