Volleyball Results Saturday, October 14th
Ar-We-Va, Coon Rapids Bayard, Glidden Ralston and Paton Churdan At Rolling Valley Conference Meet At Coon Rapids
Coon Rapids Bayard rallied for a win over Glidden Ralston in the first round, propelling them to a 4th place finish at the Rolling Valley Conference Tournament. The Crusaders went 1-2 on Saturday. The loss dropped Glidden Ralston into the consolation bracket as they fought back to go 2-1 on the day and took 5th place. Ar-We-Va downed Paton Churdan in the opening round as Ar-We-Va went 1-2 on the day with Paton Churdan dropping both of their matches to finish 0-2. Coon Rapids Bayard beat Glidden Ralston, then fell to tournament champion CAM in the semifinals, then lost to Woodbine in the 3rd place match. The Crusaders went 1-2 in matches and 2-5 in sets. Glidden Ralston was the lone local team to finish above 500 in matches, going 2-1 with wins over West Harrison and Exira-EHK after falling to Coon Rapids Bayard to open the tournament. They finished 5-2 in sets. Ar-We-Va was 1-2 in matches, earning a sweep of Paton Churdan in their first match, then falling to Boyer Valley and Exira-EHK. Ar-We-Va finished the day 2-4 in sets. Paton Churdan went 0-2 in matches with losses to Ar-We-Va and West Harrison. They finished 0-4 in sets. CAM knocked off regular season champion Boyer Valley 2-0 in the championship match.
Malia Clayburg led the Crusaders with 13 kills and 4 aces and was second on the team with 26 digs. Aubrey Hofbauer had a team high 20 assists along with 3 aces and 8 digs. Anna Hart finished with a team high 41 digs, adding 3 aces. Leah Larsen had 14 digs, Ashtyn Klocke 8 kills, Ella Heithoff 8 assists and 8 digs and Lydia Hofbauer paced the team with 7 blocks.
Lauren Hulsing paced Glidden Ralston with 23 kills with Summer Toms adding 12 kills and Kassidy Wenck added 9 kills. Addy Boell had 33 assists in two matches. Ashlynn Tiigges and Kassidy Wenck both had 8 digs with Lauren Klocke and Summer Toms both had 6 digs. Lauren Hulsing had 4 of the Wildcats 5 blocks. Kassidy Wenck had 5 aces and Summer Toms added 4 aces.
Makayla Schrad paced Ar-We-Va with 10 kills with Annalee Wittrock with 7 kills. Amber Ragaller ended the tournament with 23 asssists to go with 9 digs and a team high 2 blocks. Delaney Schurke led the Rockets with 20 digs and 6 aces. Emma Leiting finished with 10 digs and 3 aces while Trista Reis had 9 digs and 2 aces.
Mia Russel ended her day with 4 kills for Paton Churdan. Ella Tasler had 10 digs and Grace Cullum had 5 assists.
Glidden Ralston moved to 26-4 on the season and will host IKM-Manning Monday on 93.7 KKRL. Coon Rapids Bayard drops to 9-17 and will head to Audubon on KIKD 106.7 on Monday. Ar-We-Va is 2-23 and will travel to River Valley on Monday on KCIM and Paton Churdan sits 0-13 overall and will travel to Colo-Nesco on Monday. Regional matchups begin for all four teams on Monday.

South Central Calhoun At Winterset Tournament
South Central Calhoun had their first match of the day slip away, falling to Gilbert after winning the first set. They edged Gilbert 21-17 in the opening set, then fell 22-20 in set two, before falling 15-7 in the 3rd set. South Central Calhoun bounced back with a 2-0 win over Chariton, dominating both sets, winning 21-9 and 21-10. They fell to Norwalk in their final match of the day, losing in two sets. The Titans finished the tournament 1-2 in matches and 3-4 in sets.
Jayci Graeve led the offensive attack with 23 kills while Brenna McAlister added 12 kills and Mollie Monahan and Hayden Berquist both had 7 kills. Norah Riedesel had 43 assists to go with 11 digs and 4 aces. Alexa Holm paced the back row with 24 digs, followed by Jayci Graeve with 17 digs. Mollie Monahan had a team high 4 blocks with Jayci Graeve, Norah Riedesel and Hayden Berquist all making 2 blocks. Brenna McAlister and Alexa Holm both had 2 aces.
The 1-2 day drops the Titans to 25-14 as they enter the postseason next week. The Titans will host Westwood on KIKD on Wednesday.
