The Audubon Wheelers hosted a talented St. Edmond team Friday night, and the Wheelers came out with a big win as they moved into a tie for the first play in the district at 2-0. The Wheelers ran the ball very effectively last week and did the same against the Gaels. The Wheelers also got out to a fast start, putting up 30 points in the first quarter, but St. Edmond kept it close as they scored 20 as the Wheelers took a 30-20 lead going to the second. The defenses showed up in the second quarter as both teams only scored one touchdown, and Audubon would hold on to a ten-point lead at 38-28 going into the half. The Wheeler’s defense was strong again in the third quarter as they held St. Edmond scoreless and led 44-28 going into the fourth quarter. Like the first quarter, the fourth was high-scoring. Both teams got the offense going as Audubon outscored St. Edmond 22-20 in the fourth. When the clock hit zero, the Audubon Wheelers walked away with an 18-point win, 66-48.

The Wheelers wanted to be balanced on offense against St. Edmond but only threw the ball six times as Aaron Olsen went 2/6 for 49 yards and a touchdown. Evan Alt followed up his 281-yard show last week with another great week on the ground. Alt totaled 234 yards on the ground and scored four touchdowns for the Wheelers. Edward Miller caught two passes for 49 yards, with one going for a touchdown. Defensively, Ely Jorgensen and Aaron Olsen both record eight tackles to lead the Audubon defense. Jorgensen also recorded two fumble recovers as Olsen had two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
