OABCIG At East Sac

East Sac 13

OABCIG 12

The East Sac defense set the tempo early, intercepting the Falcons on four of their first-five possessions. The offense and special teams did their part late with a big pass play, setting up a game winning field goal. Luke Wright kicked the game winner with 0:04 remaining and East Sac evened their record at 1-1.

Both defenses did their jobs early, forcing punts or turnovers. The Raiders held OA-BCIG scoreless in the first half with the Falcons turning it over on downs on their first drive, then throwing an interception on the next four drives. The Falcons defense kept them in the game, forcing East Sac to punt on four of their first-five drives and holding them on 4th down on the other drive.

The Raider defense set up their first score, intercepting their fourth of the game, setting the offense up at the Falcons 41-yard line. Tate Lahr hit Chandler Lahr for a 25-yard touchdown, giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead with 3:21 left in the half.

East Sac extended the lead early in the 4th quarter. This time they forced a fumble, recovered by Ashler Lawler. That set up a 37-yard field goal by Luke Wright. The Raiders were up 10-0 with 8:24 left in the 3rd. OABCIG responded with their longest drive of  the game. They marched the ball from their own 21-yard line, scoring 11-plays later, cutting the deficit to 10-6 late in the 3rd. The Falcons took their first lead with just under 4:01 remaining on a 3-yard touchdown run by Brysen Kolar. They went for two and didn’t get it, setting up the Raiders for the game winner.  East Sac took over and slowly marched down the field. They faced a 4th and 23 and looked to be in trouble. Tate Lahr found Charlie Veit, starting a double pass. Veit hit Bradyn Burns down the field to the Falcons 18-yard line, gaining 32-yards. East Sac talked with Luke Wright about where he wanted the ball placed and they handed it to Charlie Veit to set up the kick. Wright calmly booted the field goal from 35-yard yards, making it with 0:04 remaining, putting the Raiders up 13-12. The defense made a stop on the Falcons only play, earning a hard fought win.

East Sac heads to Missouri Valley on Friday with both teams sitting 1-1.
