Carroll At Gilbert
Gilbert 21
Carroll 14
An ugly first half almost turned into a huge comeback for the Carroll Tigers on the road on Friday night. Carroll struggled to get off the field on defense and couldn’t get anything going on offense in the 1st half, falling behind 21-0. The Tigers managed only 3-yards offensively while giving up 192-yards to Gilbert with 129-yards on the ground. Carroll turned it around in the 2nd half, outgaining the Tigers 191 to 82. They were able to find rhythm in the passing game, setting up a pair of short touchdown runs by Carter Essick. Chase Ragaller was the star in the passing game, catching 5 passes for 103-yards. Carroll made a stop in the 4th quarter, giving themselves a chance to tie the game, but Gilbert intercepted a pass and was able to run the clock out.
Carroll finished with 143-yards through the air. The run game never fully got on track as Gilbert size up front never allowed Carroll to get a push up front. Carroll ran for 58-yards on 23 carries. Gilbert rushed for 193-yards but Carroll held them to 80-yards through the air on 10 passing attempts. Gilbert did throw a pair of touchdown passes.
Carroll falls to 1-1 and will travel to 1-1 Denison Schleswig on KIKD 106.7 on Friday.
