Carroll knocked off Audubon in a close game that started sloppy for both teams. In the top of the first inning, Audubon got a couple of runners on, but a strikeout by Stone Sibenaller and a groundout ended the inning with no runs scoring. In the bottom of the first inning, Carroll plated two runs without recording a hit when Chase Ragaller and Carter Essick came around to score on wild pitches. Both teams showcased their pitching staff. Gavin Larsen was pulled in the third inning after pitching two no-hit innings. The Wheelers scored their first run of the game in the top of the third inning when Aaron Olsen scored on a double steal. Audubon got at least one runner on base every inning but the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Carroll extended their lead to 5-1 after plating three runs on two hits. Going to the top of the seventh, Audubon showed no quiet as they worked tough at-bats, plating three runs off of two hits but would lose to Carroll 5-4 Wednesday night.
Stone Sibenaller went 6 2/3 innings pitched on the mound striking out 11 Audubon hitters. Carroll only picked up three hits in the game off the bats of Ryan North, Mason Vought, and Carter Essick. Audubon also recorded three hits in the game. Gavin Larsen pitched two no-hit innings before being taken out to save his arm for Saturday’s playoff game.
The win improves Carroll’s record to 6-19 on the season. Audubon drops their fourth straight game. The Wheeler’s record goes to 5-16 on the year. Carroll is back in action Thursday against Ballard. Audubon’s next game is on Saturday against Alta-Aurelia in the 1A playoffs.

After a good win Wednesday night, the Knights went on the road to Glenwood for a doubleheader and picked up another double-digit victory in game one. Kuemper scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead. Glenwood was able to tie the game up in the bottom of the second at 1-1. The Knights regained the lead in the top of the third inning by plating two runs to take a 3-1 lead. The Knights broke the game open in the fourth inning, scored ten runs, and held Glenwood scoreless in the fifth to win 13-1.
Eight different Kuemper hitters picked up a hit in game one. Logan Sibenaller and Evan Loew each recorded multiple hits in the game. Loew went the distance on the hill going all five innings giving up one earned run, and striking out five Glenwood hitters. Kuemper also recorded 11 stolen bases as a team.

Kuemper wrapped the sweep Wednesday night with a four-run victory in game two of a varsity doubleheader. The game was close to starting, but Kuemper pulled away in the later part of the game. The Knights scored the game’s first runs again, plating two in the top of the first inning. Glenwood quickly responded with three in the bottom half to take a 3-2 lead going to the second inning. Kuemepr tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the second inning. Glenwood took their second lead of the game at 5-3, plating two runs in the home half of the second inning. Kuemper tied the game for the second time at 5-5, plating two runs of their own in the third. The Knights took the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning, plating one run to lead 6-5. Kuemper scored two more in the fifth and one more in the seventh and went on to beat Glenwood 9-5.
The Knights recorded eight hits in game two. Ethan Loew and Koby Lampman each recorded two hits in the game. Kuemper recorded double-digit stolen bases again, recording 11 stolen bases in game two. The Knights used two pitchers in the game. They combined to go seven innings giving up six hits, four earned runs, and striking out four Glenwood hitters. Both wins improved Kuempers record to 22-10, and 14-6 in Hawkeye Ten play. The Knights are back in action on Friday against Carroll on 1380 AM 95.1 FM KCIM.

The Raiders struggled at home against Pocahontas Area, giving up nine runs and only three being earned. Pocahontas scored the first run of the game in the top of the first to lead 1-0. The Indians added three more in the third to take a 4-0 lead over ESC. The Raiders cut into the Pocahontas lead plating one run in the home half of the fifth inning to trail 4-1. Pocahontas added another run in the sixth and then blew the game open in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs to win 9-1.
The Raiders picked up five hits in the game from five different hitters. ESC used three different pitchers in the game. They combined to go seven innings giving up nine hits and nine runs and striking out four Pocahontas hitters. The loss drops the Raider’s record to 3-13 on the season and 2-7 in Twin Lake Conference play. ESC is back in action on Thursday at home against Ridge View.

IKM-Manning picked up a nonconference win on the road Wednesday night. The Wolves scored the game’s first runs, plating two in the first and second inning to take a 4-0 lead going to the third inning. The Wolves lead the whole game. IKM-Manning extended their lead to 6-0 by scoring one run each in the third and fourth inning. The Wolves continued their scoring, taking a 14-0 lead over MVAOCOU by scoring eight more times in the fifth inning. MVAOCOU cut into the Wolves’ lead by scoring five runs to trail 14-5 going to the sixth inning. MVAOCOU would add another run in the home half of the seventh but would fall to IKM-Manning 14-6.
IKM-Manning picked up 12 hits on the night. Ben Ramsey, Lane Sams, and Ross Kusel each recorded multiple hits in Wednesday’s road win. Wolves pitching combined to go seven innings giving up six earned runs and striking out five MVAOCOU hitters. The win improves IKM-Mannings record to 8-15 on the season. The Wolves are back in action on Saturday against Glidden-Ralston in the 1A playoffs.
