The Merchants out hit Joplin 11 to 7 but did a great job hitting with runners on base. Carroll left 4 guys on base while Joplin stranded 10. Credit the batters for coming up clutch and the pitching and defense for closing the door on the Outlaws. The bats came out hot with Dillon Kuehl doubling with 1-out in the 1st inning and scored on a single by Chris Hege, Bryce Yosko moved to 3rd on a play. Ethan Cole singled, driving in Hege and Yosko and Carroll was up 3-0 after one inning. Joplin answered with a run in the 2nd and 3rd but the Merchants were just getting started. A 2-run 3rd inning gave the Merchants some cushion. Michael Alt singled and moved to 3rd on a ground out. Byrce Yosko doubled, scoring Alt. Yosko scored moments later on a double by Joe Scarborough, who added the third run in the inning, scoring on a passed ball. The Outlaws answered with 2 in the top 4th on a 2 RBI double. Kyle Berg started the rally in the bottom half, reaching on an error and scoring on a Michael Alt single. Dillon Kuehl walked and Bryce Yosko singled to load the bases. Chris Hege walked, scoring a run and Ethan Cole hit a 2-run single. The 4-run inning gave the Merchants a 10-4 lead. Carroll added a couple runs in the 5th, then got a 3-run home run from Lane Spieker in the 6th, extending the lead to 15-4. The Outlaws scored once top 7th but the game ended with the Merchants up by 10.
Michael Alt, Ethan Cole and Bryce Yosko all had 2 hits with Cole leading the team with 4 RBI. Yosko scored 3 times and Alt scored twice. Lane Spieker had a 3-run home run, finishing with 3 RBI and a pair of runs scored. Chris Hege added a pair of RBI and Dillon Kuehl scored twice. Aidan Spieperda went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs for the win.
