Carlisle at Carroll

After a half-hour rain delay, the Caroll Tigers came out swinging at home against Carlisle. It was a tale of two halves in Thursday night’s ball game for the Tigers. Carroll started the game with some great pitching and a defensive play when Cooper Ludwig throughout a Carlisle runner trying to steal second. In the bottom half of the 1st inning, the Tigers scored seven runs on five hits sending ten batters to the plate. Dreylen Schweitzer cruised through 2 innings on the mound before running into trouble in the top of the 3rd inning. Carlisle, in the 3rd, sent 11 batters to the plate and cut the Tiger lead to 7-6.

The 3rd inning started the timer’s troubles as they sent three batters to the plate in the home half of the 3rd. Carlisle would take the lead 8-7 in the 4th, plating two runs, and Carroll responded with a run in the bottom of the 4th. From the 4th on was all Carlisle as they plated ten runs combined in the 5th and 6th innings to win 18-8. Carroll had eight hits in the game but made three outs on the bases. The loss drops the Tigers to 0-7 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. Carroll is in action again Friday at home against ACGC.

South Central Calhoun struggled at home Thursday night, getting no-hit in four innings of action. SCC pitching gave up 19 runs on ten hits and walked 12 Ogden batters in the game. Ogden also put pressure on the SCC defense by stealing nine bases. Titan hitters were able to put the ball in play, only striking out five times. SCC also used four pitchers during the game. The Titans are back in action on the road against Sioux Central on Friday.

Audubon at Coon Rapids-Bayard

Crusader pitchers found success in Friday’s game, striking out 16 Audubon batters. CRB was the first to score as they platted two runs in the home half of the first and added another run in the bottom of the third to lead 3-0 going to the fourth. Audubon added a run each in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Crusaders responded every time and won the match up 6-2.

Audubon had six hits in the game but also struck out 16 times through seven innings of action. Cooper Nielsen and Brody Wessel each had multi-hit games for the Wheelers. Aaron Olsen pitched four innings, striking out six. CRB used five pitchers in Friday’s game and held them all under 40 pitches. Cal Heyden had a great night striking out seven over two innings pitched and going 3-4 at the plate. Both teams combined for 26 strikeouts. Both teams are back in action Friday. Audubon travels to Missouri Valley, and CRB goes to Woodbine.

Riverside at IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning picks up their second win of the season Friday night at home against Riverside. The Wolves scored all six of their runs in the first two innings. IKM-Manning scored two runs in the first and four in the second. Riverside made things interesting as the game went on, adding two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. The Wolves struggled with runners on base and could have blown the game wide open. IKM-Manning left seven runners on base in Friday’s ball game. In the top of the seventh, Riverside had a runner on first with two outs and attempted to steal second and was thrown out by Cater Jace Starman to end the game.

Cooper Perdew was sold on the mound for the Wolves, going five-plus innings and striking out five. Ben Ramsey leas IKM-Manning at the plate with two hits. The Wolves combined for six hits in the game. IKM-Manning is back in action Friday on the road against Logan-Magnolia.
