Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Friday State Track Results

State Track Results for Friday, May 19th

 

Day number two of the state track and field championships from Des Moines was just as exciting as day one, if not more. More finals qualifiers and more exciting moments.

 

Shay Sinnard is a champion once again as she jumped 18-07.75, a new personal best, in the long jump, defeating last year’s champion Isabelle Noring of Carlisle. The Carroll girls’ distance medley relay, composed of Marasyn Wittrock, Madison Tunning, Averi Burke, Marie Dea, had a strong finish by Dea to snag a second-place finish with a time of 4:09.42. Tunning also competed in the 100-meter hurdles where she qualified for the finals with a seventh-place finish in a time of 15.28. Brenna Goins, Wittrock, Libby Perkins, and Emily Puck competed in the 4×200 relay and finished 22nd overall with a time of 1:50.72. Brenna Goins, Tunning, Perkins, and Sinnard competed in the late 4×100 event where they placed 16h overall with a final time of 50.88. The girls 4×400 team, composed of Wittrock, Burke, Katelyn Aden, and Dea finished 16th with a time of 4:12.00.

Kuemper’s Ben Gerken was able to clear 6-03.00 in the high jump and finished third overall to bring home a medal for the Knights. Evan Adams set a new personal record in the discus event when he medaled with a fifth-place finish with a new personal best throw of 165-03.

Ar-We-Va’s Maggie Ragaller was able to finish 12th overall in the 100-meter hurdles with a final time of 16.20, setting a new personal time. Ragaller was later in the 400-meter hurdles where she set another new personal record with a time of 1:08.93, good for 11th overall.

Audubon’s Madison Steckler got herself qualified for another final when she finished sixth overall in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.53. Anna Larsen, Mattie Nielsen, Kadence Sporrer, and Steckler finished 12th overall in the 4×400 relay with a final time of 4:14.40. 

Glidden Ralston’s Vanessa Koehler made it three for three in her high school career making it down to state track. She qualified in the high jump and finished 7th overall, clearing 5-00.00 but going out on 5-02.00.

IKM-Manning’s Ross Kusel finished 11th overall in the high jump after clearing the opening height of 5-11.00. Kusel went right from high jump to the distance medley, joining Eli Dreyer, Hunter Smith, and Ceden Keller, where the quartet finished 17th overall with a time of 3:43.75. Jase Lueth, Cooper Irlmeier, Dreyer, and Kusel finished 20th overall in the 4X200 relay with a time of 1:36.01. Smith, Dreyer, Cooper Irlmeier, and Kusel finished 24th overall in the 4×400 with a time of 3:39.82.

Coon Rapids Bayard’s Kolby Culbertson was able to medal in the high jump finishing 6th overall with a clearance of 6-01.00. Lance Clayburg was able to win his flight in the discus event and ended up medaling with a sixth-place finish with a best throw of 148-10.

South Central Calhoun’s Keira Hammen had a great day in the discus finals with a fifth-place overall finish with a best throw of 117-06. The girls’ distance medley relay, composed of Jayci Graeve, Mya Ridgely, Brenna McAlister, Chloe Judisch finished 12th overall with a time of 4:21.11.
