Underwood, SE Polk and Bishop Heelan At Carroll Tournament

Carroll led twice in the 1st half but a nine minute stretch in the 2nd half allowed Underwood to rally and hold on for the win. The Tigers took the lead early on a goal by Landon Petersen. The freshman scored about 10:00 into the match, putting Carroll up 1-0. Underwood responded late in the half, tying it at 1 with 9:34 remaining. The game went to half tied at 1. Landon Petersen scored his second goal of the game, finding the back of the net with 35:00 left in the game. Carroll’s defense had been really strong but Underwood got on a quick roll, scoring three goals from the 30:59 mark to the 21:57 mark, building a 4-2 lead. The Tigers tried to rally late, getting aggressive and scoring on a header from Camron Schweers with 0:37 left. Carroll ran out of time and Underwood was able to hold on to advance to the Championship match against SE Polk, who defeated Bishop Heelan 2-1.

Landon Petersen scored a pair of goals, Camron Schweers scored a goal and Tanner Heithoff finished with 17 saves.

Carroll Vs Bishop Heelan- Consolation Round

Carroll struggled out of the gate in their matchup with Heelan, allowing seven goals in the 1st half. They settled down after the half, playing good soccer, but the lead was too much for Carroll to come back from. The Crusaders won 7-0, dropping Carroll to 0-2 on the day, dropping the Tigers to 5-9 0n the season. Tanner Heithoff finished the game with 24 saves.

Carroll travels to North Polk on Tuesday.

SE Polk defeated Underwood 9-0 in the championship match.

Kuemper At Nevada Tournament

The Knights had an early morning after a late night, following a game at St Albert on Friday night. They traveled to Nevada for a tournament on Saturday, falling behind the host Cubs 4-0 in the 1st half. Nevada added three goals in the 2nd half, winning 7-0. Tommy Fitzsimmons led the Knights with their lone shot on goal while Ethan Fitzhenry added 10 saves.

The offensive struggled continued for the Knights in their second game of the day. They were able to get more shots against the Blue Jays, with Fletch Badding, Charlie Mayhall, Tommy Fitzsimmons, Emiliano Nava and Aiden Boell all taking a shot. The Blue Jays kept the pressure on the Kuemper defense, scoring nine times, and making Ethan Fitzhenry make 14 saves.

The losses drop the Knights to 3-11. Kuemper hosts Atlantic on Tuesday.
