AHSTW at East Sac Soccer

East Sac 3

AHSTW 1

A lengthy losing streak by the East Sac Raiders was finally broken Tuesday when they had a defensively strong game.

The Raiders had fallen into a recent losing slump with four games that were lost by two goals or less. Kenna Meyer got the night started with a goal at the middle point of the first half to get the Raiders ahead 1-0 early. Davanee Boger had the assist. Sarah Bontrager was able to pass the ball in the middle and Cora Mahler took advantage of the pass with a goal with 13 minutes left in the half to extend the Raiders’ lead to 2-0. No more than one minute later, the Vikings swung back with a goal to cut the lead in half to 2-1.

In the second half, the Raiders’ defense really got working as they’d silence the AHSTW offensive attacks to just two shots on goal. East Sac Head Coach Bob Babe says his team’s defense was the star of the show and they limited the looks that AHSTW got all night. Kenna Meyer got her second goal of the night at the 17-minute mark of the second half to keep the Raiders ahead 3-1. That ended up being the final straw as the Raiders were victorious with a final score of 3-1.

As a team, East Sac wound up with 23 shots on goal and gave goalie Denae Thayer a break where she only had two saves on the night. The Raiders are now 3-7 overall on the season. Their busy schedule this week continues on Thursday, May 4th when they travel to take on Fort Dodge.

Carroll at Gilbert Girls Soccer

Gilbert 10

Carroll   0

Wind played the factor in Tuesday’s soccer matchup as the Carroll Tigers took on the Gilbert Tigers.

Carroll recently went 1-1 this past weekend at Denison and got past East Sac 2-1. They were not so lucky this time against Gilbert. Carroll played as a cohesive unit in this game, but Gilbert got ahead quickly and never looked back as they’d lead 7-0 by halftime. Gilbert put the finishing touches on this game in the second half with 10 minutes left by winning 10-0. Kiley Riesberg once again put in tremendous effort in front of the goal with 27 saves in this game.

Carroll is now 2-11 overall on the season. They are back in action on Thursday, May 4th when they travel to take on Denison Schleswig.

Carroll Stats

Kiley Riesberg: 27 Saves.
