The Kuemper Knights traveled east on Tuesday when they took on the Johnston Dragons in a tough meet. The Knights came away with three game wins overall and were challenged well for the later meets this season.

Hans Kraus was able to pick up the lone win in singles for the Knights when he got past Caden Launderville 7-5, 1-6, and 12-10. Braxton Lu had a solid time in his singles games against Conner Dial, but Lu ultimately fell 7-6, 10-4, and 6-4 to Dial. In doubles, the Knights were able to pick up two game wins. The duo of Max Reincke and Carter Running got past Fred Jensen and Dial by set scores of 6-4 and 6-2. Landon Pottebaum and Jeep Clark were the other victorious doubles teams, winning 6-0 and 6-3. 

The Knights are back on the courts on Thursday, May 4th when they travel to take on Denison Schleswig.

Southwest Valley at Audubon

Another tough meet awaited the Audubon Wheelers Tuesday when they took on Southwest Valley at home. 

The Wheelers had struggled the last time they took on the Timberwolves and lost 8-1. Audubon did see some nice back and forth between Sawyer McClain-Toft and Slate Goodwin-Kinnaird where McClain-Toft forced extra sets, but ultimately lost 9-7. Isaac Jackson, Carson Matthews, and Lincoln Sorter kept things interesting in their singles games, but they all ended up falling 8-3 to their opponents. 

In doubles, the Timberwolves kept the pressure on. They’d end up completing the sweep with an 8-0 and two 8-3 game wins over the Wheelers. Audubon falls to 1-6 overall on the season with this loss. They are back in action on Thursday, May 4th for a solid matchup against Clarinda.
