It was a battle but Kuemper found a way to lead 4-2 coming out of singles, then swept the Gaels in doubles to pick up a hard fought 7-2 win. The Knights squeezed out a couple of wins in singles with Ella Schwarte picking up a 7-3 tie breaker win in number 2 singles and Julia Craig won 8-6 in her tie breaker in number 6 singles. Those two matches helped swing the momentum in favor of Kuemper as they headed into doubles. St Edmond held the edge in singles, winning 42 games to Kuemper’s 39. The Knights still led 4-2 due to wins by Kaylie Simons and Keziah Janssen who controlled their matches. Kuemper needed one win in doubles to clinch the team win and fighting to win the number one doubles match 9-7, along with winning the other two matches 7-3 and 8-4. Kaylie Simons, Keziah Janssen, Ella Schwarte and Julia Craig all went 2-0 in matches. The Knights held a 24-14 edge in doubles games.
Kaylie Simons won her singles match 8-5 and teamed with Brooke Rohe for a 7-3 doubles win. Keziah Janssen won her singles match 8-5, teaming with Julia Craig to win her doubles 8-4. Craig added a 9-8 (8-6) win in singles. Ella Schwarte won singles 9-8 (7-3), teaming with Sophie Rohe to win their doubles match 9-7.
