Carson Kanne scored in the 2nd half and Kuemper was able to hold on a win an outstanding defensive game between the rivals. The Knights pitched a shutout with Michael Kasperbauer picking up 7 saves in goal, but giving his teammates in front of him a lot of the credit. The Knights frustrated the Raiders offense all night with an aggressive and physical approach. The Raiders had chances, getting 11 shots on goal but weren’t able to find the back of the net. East Sac was just as good on defense, holding Kuemper to 12 shots on goal, allowing just the 1 goal.
Michael Kasperbauer had 7 saves for Kuemper and Matt Borkowski made a pair of key plays on defense. Emiliano Nava had 5 shots on goal and Fletch Badding added 4 shots on goal. Carson Kanne had the lone goal of the night.
Luke Wernimont had 14 saves for the Raiders.
The Knights nab their first win of the season, improving to 1-6. They host Creston on Thursday. East Sac slips to 1-3 and will host Carroll next Thursday.
