Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Audubon, Carroll, East Sac, and Kuemper Boys Track Teams in Action Thursday

Boys Track Results for Thursday, April 13th, 2023

Carroll and Kuemper at ADM

Carroll and Kuemper both came away from their road meet at ADM with top finishes. The Knights finished third overall with 82 points followed by Winterset in fourth with 66 points and finally Carroll in fifth with 60 points. ADM was the meet winner with 193 points followed by Ankeny Centennial with 102 points in second. 

Kuemper ended up having stronger individual performances than their relay performances. Ben Gerken was on another level in the jumping events. He ended up winning the high jump with a best jump of 6-02.00 and long jump with a winning jump of 19-03.00. Jacob Greving gave the Knights their other first-place finish in the 1600-meter run where he won with a time of 4:42.63. Evan Adams and Chris Mohr once again were competitive in the discus even where Adams finished second with a best throw of 134-06 and Mohr finishing right behind him in third with a throw of 133-05. DJ Vonnahme continues to run well in the short distance events, securing a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.66. One relay team was able to finish in the top three, that being the 4X800 team. Composed of Tregan Beiter, Koby Lampman, Trevor Rial, and Greving, the relay team finished third overall with a time of 8:45.23. 

The Carroll Tigers had better results in their relay events than the Knights did with four top three finishes. The best finishes were in the sprint medley and distance medley events. Reece Ziegmann, Jake Jorgensen, Austin Tigges, and Jack White competed in the sprint medley relay where they finished second overall with a time of 1:39.34. In the distance medley relay, Caden Mollhoff, Carter Essick, Edrik Heisterkamp, and Ryan North also finished second overall with a time of 3:47.13. Ziegmann, Tigges, and White were joined by Trey Hunter in the 4X200 relay where they finished third overall in a time of 1:33.29. The final top relay finish was the shuttle hurdle relay, composed of Ty Hawkinson, Maddux White, Carter Smith, and Owen Klocke, where they finished third overall with a time of 1:09.06. 

Carroll also had two top individual finishes, Ryan North won the 3200-meter run with a winning time of 11:01.32 and Trey Hunter in the high jump where he finished second overall with a best jump of 6-00.00.

Up next for both teams, Carroll will be in action on Saturday, April 15th when they compete at the Jim Duncan Invitational and Kuemper will be at Greene County on Monday, Apri l17th for the Ram Relays.

          Audubon at Underwood

          The Audubon Wheelers were among tough competition Thursday as they competed at Underwood. As a team, the Wheelers ended up with 26 team points and finished in 11th place overall. The hometown team Underwood won the meet with 119 points overall, followed by Woodbine in second-place with 70 points, West Monona and Riverside tied for third with 68 points, and Earlham in fifth with 67 points. 

          The Wheelers came away with four top-five finishes overall. Aaron Olsen brought home the best finish for the Wheelers finishing third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.28. The 4X100 relay team, composed of Manny Beisswenger, Zeke Konkler, Dakota McCrainie, and Olsen, finished fourth overall with a time of 47.26. The shuttle hurdle team continued to compete well and finished fourth overall at this meet with a time of 1:09.17. Olsen, Beisswenger, Gabe Jensen, and Brody Schultes composed that shuttle hurdle relay team. Finally, Schultes joined Mason Steckler, Logan Stetzel, and Adam Obrecht in the distance medley relay where the team finished fifth overall with a time of 4:21.68. 

          Audubon is back in action on Tuesday, April 18th when they compete at the CAM Classic.

              East Sac at Manson NW Webster

              The East Sac Raiders were able to leave Manson NW Webster Thursday with some strong finishes overall. The Raiders as a team finished ninth overall with 44 points, ahead of West Bend Mallard who finished 10th overall with 29 points. ACGC were the eventual meet champions with 123.50 points. 

              For the Raiders, Garrett Ortner had a solid night and had the best finish for his team. He was able to secure a second-place finish in the 400-hurdles with a time of 59.94. Ortner was also part of the fourth place 4X800 team along with Jack Gullett, Parker Engel, and Wyatt Smith who finished in a time of 9:33.54. Parker Engel also had a top individual finish in the 1600-meter run, finishing third overall with a time of 4:54.17. Landon Sporrer and Owen Engel ran well in the 3200-meter run finishing third and fourth overall respectively. Sporrer finished with a time of 11:18.06 and Owen Engel had a time of 12:01.03. Finally, Logan Schroeder had two fifth-place finishes individually in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.62 and 200-meter dash with a time of 24.02. 

              The Raiders get right back to competition on Friday, April 14th when they host the Raider Relays where IKM-Manning, Paton-Churdan, and South Central Calhoun all will be competing.
