Kuemper at Harlan
Harlan 2
Kuemper 0
The Kuemper Knights were in a close game against Harlan, but a late mistake made all the difference in the end.
The Knights were looking to break an early 0-4 losing streak and they looked to do that against a 2-1 Harlan squad. The Cyclones were first to strike early in the contest to give them the 1-0 lead and it stayed that way for a majority of the game. Kuemper Head Coach Ken Massey says the Knights missed a lot of shots in this game including some pk shots. Despite the missed shots, the Knights defensively kept Harlan at that 1-0 lead up until one crucial mistake. Kuemper ended up scoring on themselves to give Harlan the 2-0 lead which ended up being the last goal scored in the game.
The loss drops Kuemper to 0-5 overall on the season. Michael Kasperbauer put in some work in front of the net with 13 saves in the game. The Knights are back on the pitch on Tuesday, April 11th when they host Greene County.

East Sac at West Sioux

East Sac 1
The East Sac Raiders had a long road trip northwest to West Sioux as they took on the Falcons Monday.
East Sac came into this contest 1-1 overall on the season, picking up their lone win over LoMa on April 4th. West Sioux was also entering this game with only one win on the season; that was against Wheldon Sibley-Ocheyedan in a 6-0 victory. The Falcons’ offense got to work quickly in the first half, getting up 4-0 by halftime. Despite the slow start, East Sac Head Coach Sam Ellis says his team was moving the ball well but couldn’t convert that into goals. As a team, the Raiders had 20 shots, nine of which were shots on goal. In the second period, the Raiders finally got on the board with a goal from Isaiah Aragon. West Sioux’s defense stiffened up after that and were able to convert a strong look on their end into points on the offensive end with three more goals added to their total. The Falcons walked away victorious with a final score of 7-1.
Luke Wernimont protected the net very well against the Falcons, ending the match with an extraordinary 33 saves.
The Raiders are now 1-2 overall on the season. The Raiders have a much shorter road trip on Tuesday, April 18th when they take on Kuemper at the Carroll Athletic Stadium.
