Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Two Area Girls Basketball Teams Won on Saturday

Girls Basketball Results Saturday, February 4th

Carroll led the whole game, getting a very good defensive effort, holding Denison Schleswig to 22.5% from the field and 3-21 from beyond the arc. The Tigers forced 21 turnovers, getting 6 from Katelyn Aden and 5 from Kennedy Thein, who played really well off the bench. Carroll held the Monarchs to 2-points in the 1st quarter, but Kiana Schulz heated up in quarter two, helping them score 23-points, pulling within 3 of Carroll at half. The Tigers locked down in the 2nd half, giving up 5-points.

Katelyn Aden and Camryn Schable both finished in double figures with Aden leading the way with 15 points along with her 6 steals. Schabled added 13 points. Kennedy Thein added 8 points to go with her 5 steals. Shayne Aschinger pulled down 6 rebounds.

The Tigers improve to 8-11 overall and will head to Carlisle on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston finished a very busy week going 2-2 with a win on Saturday at home against West Harrison. The Wildcats jumped out quickly, leading by 10 at the end of the 1st quarter and by 14 at half. They outscored the Hawkeyes 31-23.

They had four girls score in double figures with Paige Klocke leading the way with 21 points, Tiela Janssen and Ashtyn Klocke both had 11 points and Vanessa Koehler had 10 points. Kassidy Wenck nearly gave them a fifth player in double figures, finishing with 7 points.

The win improves them to 12-9 overall. They head to Coon Rapids Bayard on Monday on 93,7 KKRL.

South Central Calhoun tried to bounce back from a tough 1st quarter, finding themselves down 18-6 against a ranked Tiger team. The Titans pulled within 6 at half, but trailed by 12 heading into the 4th quarter. The Titans shot well from the field as a whole, hitting 41.7% but struggled from beyond the arc, going 5-17. They had 7 assists on 20 made baskets and pulled down 25 rebounds but had 14 turnovers.

Riley Batta had a huge game with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Kylee Schleisman added 14 points and 5 rebounds while Brenna McAlister scored 8 points.

The Titans fall to 14-5 overall. They head to East Sac on KIKD 106,7 on Tuesday.
