The Carroll Tigers got back to .500 on the season as they were in a battle late against Winterset Tuesday night.
In a tale of two stories, Winterset was trying to add to their three-game win streak, while Carroll was trying to snap their four-game losing streak. The first quarter both teams were evenly matched as they were tied at 12-12. Bryce Berlau started off his big game with a pair of three pointers to start off to lead the Tigers with six points. Trey Hunter got cooking with a pair of three pointers that sparked the Tiger run. Winterset wasn’t done quite yet as they rose to the challenge and played well in the fourth quarter. After going on a 14-0 run, the Huskies cut down the 16-point Tiger lead all the way down to just six at 49-43. While the threat of being outdone in the final minutes was imminent, the Tigers stayed focused and were able to pull away late with a 13-point, 65-52 win.

The East Sac Raiders were able to keep their current winning streak alive as they used a huge fourth quarter performance to get past Manson NW Webster.
Both teams had winning streaks on the line with Manson NW Webster winning three straight defeating Cherokee Washington, Storm Lake St. Mary’s and SE Valley while East Sac went back-to-back defeating Alta-Aurelia and Woodbury Central. Neither the Raiders nor Cougars had a big first quarter, but Manson NW Webster was able to get up 8-4 heading into the second quarter. East Sac started to come alive and started to inch further and further away from the Cougars. Aden Vondrak led the charge with two big three-pointers and helped East Sac put up 16 points in the second quarter and grab the lead at 20-14. East Sac Head Coach Todd Bontrager said his team’s defense and rebounds was the reason they were able to get the lead at halftime.

West Bend Mallard 55
The South Central Calhoun Titans were able to snap a rough two game losing streak as they toppled West Bend Mallard Tuesday night.
The Titans had a bit of a rough patch the last two games, losing to conference leader Sioux Central and Emmetsburg, who’s fighting their way up the conference. The Titans put those games behind them and started off with a big first quarter against the Wolverines. They’d put down 24 points and leave West Bend Mallard with 10 entering the second quarter. IKM-Manning at OABCIG
OABCIG 55
IKM-Manning 47
The IKM-Manning Wolves put a crack in what seemed to be an impenetrable shield of OABCIG in their close loss to the Falcons.
The Western Valley leaders were 13-0 entering this game and the Wolves were looking to avenge their loss to Underwood on Monday. OABCIG came out with some fire in the first quarter, and after they led 7-5 midway through the quarter, they finished with a 15-2 run that got them up 22-7 over IKM-Manning. The climb back from that deficit started in the second quarter for the Wolves as they cut that 15-point Falcon lead down to 10 at 25-15 midway through the quarter. OABCIG had another scoring run at 8-0 to get them up 33-15 and eventually they took a 35-19 lead into halftime. Ross Kusel and Caden Keller both led the charge for the Wolves as they’d both put-up double-digit points against a tough Falcons’ squad.
OABCIG continued to keep their momentum rolling as they scored the first five of seven points in the third quarter to lead 40-21. IKM-Manning went on a tear of their own and were again down by 10 points at 46-36 entering the fourth quarter. They eventually cut down that lead further to 53-47 with 20 short seconds left. The Wolves had to force fouls late and while the Falcons missed one of their free throws, they were able to grab the rebound with eight seconds left. They dribbled out the last moments of the game and came away with a 55-47 win over IKM-Manning.
Kusel ended up leading the team with 14 points and Keller added 13. Ben Ramsey led the team with six assists. The loss dropped the Wolves to 9-7 overall on the season. They are back in action on Friday, January 27th when they travel to take on Treynor.
