Carroll had another game slip away in the 4th quarter, getting outscored 15-8 to fall by 4. The lose is their 4th straight, and 4th in a row where they had a lead or a chance to win late. The Tigers led by 6 with 4:00 left but didn’t score the rest of the game as Roland Story went to a press, creating several turnovers, turning them into points. Carroll had a chance to extend the lead to 5 with 2:00 left but missed an opportunity on the offensive end.  Carroll is close, playing 3 really good quarters on Tuesday, then nearly played 4 good quarters on Saturday. The loss drops them to 6-7 overall. They head to Winterset on Tuesday.

Bryce Berlau had a team high 12 points, Evan Hammer added 10 points along with 13 rebounds. Jack White added 9 points and Tanner Gotto scored 7 points.

Kuemper Vs Pella At Gilbert Tournament

This game was tight throughout with Pella getting just enough down the stretch to pull out the 3-point win. The Dutch didn’t shoot many free throws but went 4-4 for the game, shooting 43.6% from the field and 27.3% from three. They turned it over 16 times, but forced Kuemper into 12 turnovers. The Knights struggled from the field, hitting 39.6% from the field, hitting 40.9% from three, going 9-22. The Knights led by 4 at the end of the 1st quarter but trailed by 2 at half. Both teams scored 15-points in the 3rd quarter, keeping Kuemper down 2, heading to the 4th quarter.

Dawson Gifford and Michael Kasperbauer finished in double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively. Carson Kanne added 8 points, making 6 assists. Carter Putney had 8 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.

The loss drops Kuemper to 12-4 overall. They host Lewis Central on Friday.

South Central Calhoun fell a game behind Sioux Central for the lead in the Twin Lakes Conference, struggling at home, trailing by as many as 33-points in the 4th quarter. The Titans struggled from beyond the arc while Sioux Central shot the ball well. The Rebels did an outstanding job, spreading the floor, and moving the ball quickly, getting open looks. They controlled the boards, especially on the offensive end along with winning the physical battle on both ends of the floor. The Titans attempted to get into the lane, but were forced to go one-on-one, without having open shooters to kick too. The Titans rallied in the 3rd, pulling within 10, but a technical foul, helped Sioux Central get 4 free throws and the ball. They scored 6-points on the possession, stretching the lead to 55-39. The Titans pulled within 14, but that was as close as they got the rest of the game.

Sioux Central jumped out 5-0 but South Central Calhoun fought back with buckets by Tyler Lightner and Gavin Batta, then took the lead 6-5 on a bucket from Eli Wheelock. Sioux Central went back up 7-6 and never trailed again. Lightner pulled the Titans within 9-8 but the Rebels went on a 5-0 run to lead 14-8. Keegan Soard scored for South Central Calhoun, pulling them within 14-9 but the Rebels kept moving the ball well on their end, getting open looks and hit a three to lead 17-11 at the end of the 1st quarter. Tyler Lightner scored to pull the Titans within 4 to start the 2nd quarter. Sioux Central answered with a 13-2 run, stretching the lead to 30-15. Eli Wheelock cut it to 34-19 moments later but the Rebels had another answer, grabbing their largest lead of the half at 41-22.  Wheelock drained a shot, Gavin Batta hit a 3 and Cole Higgins knocked down a 3 to end the 1st half and the Titans were back in it at 41-30.

Eli Wheelock came out aggressive to start the 3rd, scoring in the lane, pulling the Titans within 41-32. Gavin Batta scored 5 in a row, pulling the Titans within 46-39 midway through the 3rd. South Central Calhoun looked to have momentum but the Rebels created a couple turnovers, extending the lead to 49-39. A technical against South Central Calhoun after a Rebel fast break at 49-39, gave the Rebels all the momentum they needed stretching the lead to 16. Sioux Central went up by as many as 33 with around 4:30 left in the game and cruised to a 84-55 win.

Eli Wheelock led the Titans with 23 points, Gavin Batta and Tyler Lightner each added 10 points. Cole Higgins finished with 5 points and 5 rebounds.

The loss dropped South Central Calhoun to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They trail the Rebels by a game. They head to Emmetsburg on Tuesday, the first of three games this week.

East Sac won their second straight game, winning Friday night, then on Saturday. They Raiders started quickly, leading 18-7 at the end of the 1st quarter and up 32-13 at half. Sam Julin started a second straight game and continued his hot shooting from Friday, hitting 4-3’s, finishing 4-10 from beyond the arc and 8-15 overall. East Sac shot 45.8% from the field and 38.1% from three. They did a really nice job coming out of the locker room at half, building upon their lead, going up 54-23 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Sam Julin paced the Raiders with 20 points. Luke Wright just missed a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Caleb Eichorn added 8 points and Ryan Clair had 10 rebounds.

The Raiders have won 2 in a row, improving to 5-8 overall and 2-5 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders head to Manson NW Webster on Tuesday and play three games this week.

Ar-We-Va dominated the 2nd and 4th quarters, picking up their 4th win of the season. The Rockets played well on defense, allowing them to keep attacking on the offensive end. They executed well in the 2nd and 4th quarters, helping them to shoot well. The Rockets led by 6 at the end of the 1st quarter, extending it to 15 by half. The lead was 13 heading to the 4th quarter where they outscored River Valley 17-6.

Ar-We-Va had three guys score in double figures and nearly had six guys. Emmett Neumann led the offense with 15 points to go with 6 rebounds. Wyatt Ragaller added 13 points and 3 steals. Blayne Smith finished with 12 points, along with  8 rebounds and 5 assists. Harley Molina and Wade Ragaller each had 8 points, Ragaller added 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Kyelar Cleveland finished with 7 points and 9 rebounds.

Ar-We-Va moved to 4-8 on the season. They host Ridge View on 93.7 KKRL on Monday.
