Audubon at Exira-EHK

Exira-EHK 65

Audubon 46

The Wheelers were able to cut down a massive Exira-EHK lead down to three points in the first half, but gave away too many shots down the stretch Friday afternoon.

Both teams came into this game with recent losses, Exira-EHK lost to a good West Harrison team and Audubon fell to Tri-Center. Audubon was able to quickly get on the board in the first quarter 4-0, but the Spartans were right there to grab the lead at 5-4. That lead change quickly got out of hand when the Spartans went on an 11-0 scoring run that eventually lead to them leading 23-10 heading into the second quarter. Carson Bauer started off the game with five points, but eventually Edward Miller was able to come alive. The momentum changed in the Audubon’s favor as they went on a scoring run of their own, going 12-2 in the second quarter to be down by three points at 25-22. Just as quickly, Exira-EHK swung back the momentum and closed out the quarter by getting back up by 10 points at 34-24. Miller was a big help in that push where he put up nine points and Brody Schultes had a massive three pointer that just added to the momentum.

In the second half, the Spartans stepped their foot on the gas pedal and never let off. They had another scoring run t 8-0 and scored 22 points in the third quarter and got plenty of points in transition and in the paint. Cash Emgarten saw similar success with eight points in the quarter and Easton Nelson started to get hot at the blocks with eight points as well. The Spartans used that big third quarter to stay ahead of the Wheelers and eventually win it 65-46.

Edward Miller ended up leading the Wheelers with 17 points in the game. Audubon drops to 4-9 overall on the season. They are back in action on Tuesday, January 17th when they travel to take on 8-4 Treynor.
