IKM-Manning battled back from down 9 to start the game to lead most of the 2nd half but came up just short in a Western Iowa Conference matchup at home. The Wolves played well on defense, holding LoMa to 44-points and containing their inside game after the first few minutes of the game. The Panthers made one three point shot until the 4th quarter, then hit five down the stretch to rally from down six. The Wolves had a chance, down 2 in the closing minute but the Panthers sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
The Wolves fell down 5-0 to open the game, after a Morgan Hanson free throw the Panthers extended the lead to 10-1. Abby Nielheisel found her rhythm on offense, posting up on the block and hitting some shots from the elbow. She scored 8 of the Wolves next 13 points, pulling them within 16-14. Mabel Langel added a free throw and Morgan Hanson knocked down a shot during the Wolves spurt. Taylor Beckendorf tied the game at 18 just before half. The Wolves pulled even at half at 18, outscoring the Panthers 10-6 in the 2nd quarter.
Mabel Langel put the Wolves up for the first time with a bucket to start the 3rd quarter. After LoMa tied it, Abby Nielheisel scored to put the Wolves ahead 22-20. Morgan Hanson hit a three and Mabel Langel added a free throw, giving the Wolves their largest lead of the game up 26-20. Taylor Beckendorf kept the lead at six with a bucket, making it 28-22. LoMa hit back-to-back threes to tie the game at 28, heading to the 4th quarter. Abby Nielheisel scored to start the 4th and IKM-Manning went back up 32-29. The Panthers hit another three to tie it, after a Mabel Langel bucket, the Panthers got back-to-back threes from Marki Bertelsen to go up 38-34. They extended the lead to six, but Abby Nielheisel cut it to 4, then Mabel Langel pulled the Wolves within 42-38. Morgan Hanson hit a pair of free throws with under 0:20 left, pulling IKM-Manning to 42-40. The Panthers got a pair of free throws to clinch the win.
Abby Nielheisel led the Wolves with 14 points. Mabel Langel added 12 points and 6 rebounds, Morgan Hanson had a solid all-around game with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Anna Stangl added 5 rebounds.
The loss drops IKM-Manning to 4-7 overall and 4-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to Riverside on Friday.

East Sac played really well, trailing the 7th ranked Braves 34-32 at half. They knocked down shots, hitting 42% from the field and 37.5% from three, making 6 of 16 shots from behind the arc. Cherokee edged away in the 2nd half, outscoring the Raiders 22-12 in the 3rd, but the Raiders scored in double figures all four quarters. They had 22 turnovers but dished out 15 assists on 21 made baskets.
Mary Bontrager paced three girls in double figures with 12 points to go with 5 assists and 4 steals. Makenna Steiger continues her hot stretch with 11 points, making 3 of 8 from the three-point line. Sarah Bontrager added 10 points while Kendall Quirk pulled down 12 rebounds. Addisen Ehler added 6 points and 5 rebounds.
The loss snaps the Raiders two game win streak, moving them to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They head to Storm Lake St Mary’s on Friday.

Paton Churdan played one of their better games of the season, scoring in double figures in all four quarters, including a game high 16 in the 3rd quarter when the matched the Bulldogs output. Boyer Valley used a quick start with 22-points in the 1st quarter to build a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. They hit nine-threes and knocked down 11 free throws to offset the 20 turnovers that Paton Churdan caused.
Becca Anderson and Emma Stream continue to give the Rockets two strong offensive weapons with Anderson leading the way with 23 points and Stream adding 19 points. Calleigh Fitzpatrick scored 9 points in the loss.
Paton Churdan slips to 0-11 overall and 0-7 in the Rolling Valley. They travel to Coon Rapids Bayard on 93.7 KKRL on Friday.
