It wasn’t easy but South Central Calhoun won for the second straight week to improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the district. The Titans found themselves down at halftime, trailing 8-6. The offense struggled in the first half with the only Titan points coming on a 91-yard fumble picked up and ran for a touchdown by Brock Nattress late in the 2nd quarter.  The offense was able to put some points on the board in the 2nd half, building a 36-8 lead after the 3rd quarter. It started with a 3-yard run by Zach Trott midway through the 3rd. The defense kept the momentum going with a safety on Eagle Grove’s next possession, extending the lead to 16-8. A 6-yard touchdown run by Brock Nattress just over a minute later extended the Titans lead to 23-8. Gavin Batta found Zach Trott for a 17-yard touchdown pass late in the 3rd quarter to put the game away. The onslaught in the 3rd ended with 0:06 left in the quarter when Batta found Tyler Lightner with a 15-yard pass. Tyler Lightner added a 22-yard run in the 4th and Mike Trott finished the Titans scoring with a 13-yard touchdown run with 1:35 remaining in the game.

The Titans put up points but still struggled to put up yards on the ground. They averaged 2.3 yards per carry, picking up 98 yards on 42 carries. The passing game round the end zone twice but the Titans were 6-15 through the air for 85-yards. The defense held Eagle Grove to 215 yards on the ground but only 3.9 yards per carry. The Eagles only threw the ball six times, gaining 31-yards. The Titans were outgained 246 yards to 183 but found a way to win. The Eagles hurt themselves with 12 penalties for 103 yards.

Gavin Batta was 5-14 for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tyler Lightner had 1 catch for 15-yards and a touchdown. Zach Trott made 4 catches for 50-yards and a touchdown. Tyler Lightner ran the ball 9 times for 64-yards and a score. Brock Nattress had 9 carries, 28-yards and a touchdown. Chance Roeder, Waylen Gemberling and Naylan Gulbranson all had 6.5 tackles. Bryan Steig averaged 43-yards per punt on 3 punt attempts.

South Central Calhoun heads to South Hamilton on Friday.
