Girls Cross Country Results Thursday, September 8th

Kuemper At Gilbert Invite

Marie Dea continues her strong season bringing home a 6th place finish for the Knights. The team competed well on a hot and windy day at the Iowa State University Course in Ames. They finished tied for 10th with West Marshall with 295 points. The Knights had two runners finish in the top 50 with Julia Kanne in 48th place.

The Knights are scheduled to run at Ridge View on Saturday.

IKM-Manning At Audubon Invite

IKM-Manning had an outstanding day finishing in 2nd place as a team while Audubon ran just three runners with one getting injured during the race so they had no team score. The Wolves ran a in nice pack, with five girls finishing in the top 10 and seven girls in the top 20. The Wolves placed two girls in the top 5. Their depth showed through, scoring 34 points, to finish behind Harlan who scored 21 points with three runners in the top 5 and five in the top 10.

Emily Albertsen led the Wolves, taking 2nd place in 23:11.9. She was happy with how she handled the hilly course, saying she really ran well in the down hill portions, catching several runners early and staying in the top of the race throughout her run. Taylor Beckendorf gave the Wolves a second runner in the top 5, taking 5th place. Joining those two runners in the top 10 were, Lauren Irlbeck in 8th, Raegan Garrison 9th and Kaitlynn Spoelstra in 10th place.

Madison Burr led the Wheelers with a 33rd place finish. She said she was pleased with how she ran on a warm day and felt she managed the hills well. Stefi Beisswenger was running in 2nd place when she went down with an injury and wasn’t able to finish the race.
