Coon Rapids Bayard at Tri-Center – Class 1A Substate 8 Semifinals

Tri-Center                     1

Coon Rapids Bayard   0

Coon Rapids Bayard’s season came to an end as they went head to head against Tri-Center Saturday in a defensive battle.

The Crusaders offense didn’t have any answers against Tri-Center’s Sean McGee, who ended up throwing 16 strikeouts. Kolby Culbertson ended up being the star of the show for Coon Rapids Bayard, where he threw nine strikeouts in seven innings of work. Tri-Center didn’t see much success either as the defense behind Culbertson made great plays, including Preston McAlister at second base who had five putouts. Cal Heydon was also solid at first base, getting eight putouts on eight chances. The standstill was broken when Tri-Center got back-to-back base hits and got runners at first and second in the bottom of the seventh inning. Cael Witt for Tri-Center hit the walk-off hit to score a runner and get past Coon Rapids Bayard by a final score of 1-0. Gabe Obert and Parker Hays both got hits for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders season comes to an end with a final record of 23-7.
