It didn’t take Carroll long to show their schedule prepared them for the post season. They scored 3-runs with their first-four batters in the 1st inning and never looked back, beating Humboldt in 3 innings. Carroll blew the game open in the 2nd inning with 6-runs. Carroll out hit Humboldt 11 to 1 with Carroll pounding out three doubles, a triple and a 3-run home run from Vanessa Ayala. Alyssa Brant was outstanding in the circle, allowing just 1 hit and two base runners. The Tigers defense was just as good as its offense. Josie Ayala started her second double play of the post season, making another catch in centerfield, then throwing out a runner at home to end the 2nd inning. Vanessa Ayala hit a 3-run home run in the 3rd to put Carroll up 12-0. Brant and the defense ended the game in the bottom half.
Vanessa Ayala led the Tigers with 3 hits, including a double along with the 3-run home run. She finished with 4-runs batted in and scored 3 times. Ava Gross had a pair of hits to go with a double, 2 RBI and scored 3 times. Camryn Schable drove in 3-runs with 2 hits, one was a double and she scored once. Gabby Olberding also had 2 RBI. Brielle Hinners tripled, driving in a run and scored twice. Alyssa Brant got the win, going 3 innings, allowing 1 hit with 2 strikeouts.
Carroll improves to 16-16 on the season and will head to ADM on Tuesday in a sub-state final on 93.7 KKRL.
