Atlantic was able to score late against Kuemper at Merchants Park Tuesday, but the Knights defense was able to stay ahead of the Trojans for the win.
The Trojans got off to a solid start in the first three innings, getting two runners home while keeping Kuemper to only one run in the bottom of the third inning. The Knights were able to counter the Trojans in the fourth inning where they started to silence the Atlantic offense and put up three runs to capture a 4-2 lead. They kept that momentum up through the sixth inning, putting up five more runs and leaving Atlantic with one, to lead 9-3 heading into the seventh inning. Logan Sibenaller had a stellar day in his at bats, going 2-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Trevor Rial also got himself an RBI while going 2-4 at the plate. Defensively, the Knights were able to get 21 putouts while committing two errors.
Atlantic wasn’t done fighting yet as they bounced back in the seventh with three runs scored. Tanner O’Brien of Atlantic hit a deep ball to center field that scored three runners and cut down the Kuemper lead to 9-6. With runners at first and second, the Kuemper defense was able to bounce back themselves and get a strikeout, a 6-3 putout, and a 1-3 putout to end it and seal a 9-6 win over the Trojans. The win improves Kuemper to 13-11 overall on the season and 6-8 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. They will take on another army of Trojans on Wednesday, June 22nd when they travel to take on Tri-Center.

The Audubon Wheelers were in a battle against conference foe LoMa where the Wheelers were able to hold on for their 11th win of the season.
LoMa and Audubon had a close game in the first inning with the Panthers getting two runs on the board and Audubon putting up one. LoMa extended their lead in the second with two more runs scored to lead 4-1, then it was Audubon’s turn to bring the heat. The Wheelers were rolling with four runs scored to take the lead at 5-4. Braden Wessel and Gavin Smith were beasts behind the plate with Wessel going 3-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Smith was able to knock a home run while going 2-4 with four RBIs.
The Wheelers were threatened throughout the game by LoMa, with the Panthers cutting down Audubon’s lead to 9-6 in the fifth, but they were never quite able to take the lead. Cooper Nielsen and Carson Meaike shared time on the hill where they allowed nine hits and eight earned runs while recording five strikeouts. The defense for the Wheelers did struggle a fair bit with only 21 putouts out of 33 chances and two errors. Despite the Wheeler’s defensive errors, the Wheelers were able to stay ahead and win with a final score of 12-8.
The win elevated the Wheelers to a record of 10-7 overall and 9-5 in the Western Iowa Conference. They will have another conference challenge on Thursday, June 23th when they take on IKM-Manning at home.

Coon Rapids Bayard at West Harrison

The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders are back to their winning ways as they are now on a five game winning streak and defeated a tough West Harrison team Tuesday.
The Crusaders got out early in the game to a 5-0 lead that was cut down slightly with a West Harrison run in the second inning. The Hawkeyes did keep Coon Rapids Bayard true to those five runs and kept them scoreless up until the seventh inning. Their defense was able to have 21 putouts on 25 chances and their pitching core of Koleson Evans, Mason McIntosh, and Gabe Gilgen allowed nine hits, four earned runs, seven walks, and recorded 10 strikeouts all together.
Coon Rapids Bayard stuck with Kolby Culbertson on the mound for all six innings and he was electric once again. He kept the Hawkeyes to five hits, two earned runs, and four walks while recording nine strikeouts. The offense for the Crusaders got the job done with Cal Heydon and Lance Clayburg going 2-4 with an RBI. Clayburg was also able to add a double and two runs scored to his name. While West Harrison added two runs scored between the sixth and seventh innings, Coon Rapids Bayard added two more and closed out the game defensively to win it 7-3 and win their fifth game in a row.
The win elevated the Crusaders to 18-3 overall on the season and 11-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They continue their week on Wednesday, June 22nd with a home varsity doubleheader against Whiting.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets were unable to win the rematch against Boyer Valley as the Bulldogs returned the favor from earlier on in the season in Tuesday’s game.
Boyer Valley in this game held on to their lead that they built in the second inning, bringing in four batters. Ar-We-Va wouldn’t see numbers on their side of the board until the fifth inning where their offense was able to produce three runs compared to Boyer Valley’s seven. Cooper Kock had the most consistent night among the Rockets, going 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored. Damon Ehlers was also credited with two RBIs and was hit by a pitch. Boyer Valley kept their runs coming in the sixth inning with five runs scored to extend their lead to 12-3. The Rockets were able to get back on track after a scoreless sixth inning to bring home two batters in the seventh. The Bulldogs were able to get 10 hits off of the Ar-We-Va defense and all 12 of their runs were earned. Conner Kirsch and Wyatt Ragaller combined to throw six strikeouts in this game.
Boyer Valley closed out the top of the seventh and walked away victorious with a final score of 12-5. The loss dropped Ar-We-Va to 4-10 overall and 3-9 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They continue their week with another conference game on Wednesday, June 22nd when they take on Woodbine.

The IKM-Manning Wolves were still without some key players Tuesday as they took on Treynor in the rematch of the game earlier in the season where IKM-Manning picked up the win.
Treynor was able to get their offense off to a good start and stayed consistent against Reed Hinners on the hill. Hinners on the night threw over 100 pitches in his five and two thirds’ innings and while the Cardinals consistently scored, he didn’t allow any more than two runs to be scored in a single inning, besides the sixth. Hinners allowed nine hits with eight earned runs and three strikeouts. The Cardinals scored two runs in the first, second, fourth, and fifth innings and opened up the door to victory with a four-run inning. Hinners and Brody Blom had the runs scored for IKM-Manning with Max Nielsen being credited with an RBI.
Treynor was able to win it 12-2 in six innings. The loss dropped the Wolves to 6-10 overall on the season and 4-9 in the Western Iowa Conference. They have another conference challenger awaiting them on Thursday, June 23rd as they travel to take on Audubon. Jeff Blankman will have the broadcast on 93.7 KKRL beginning around 7:00 PM.

The Glidden Ralston Wildcats had a long road trip on Tuesday as they took on the Wildcats of West Central Valley.
Both Wildcats were able to get their teams on the board in the first inning with West Central Valley getting two runs scored and Glidden Ralston putting up one run. After that inning it was all West Central Valley with 15 runs scored in four innings, and Glidden Ralston was left scoreless. Tyler Brant had the biggest offensive night for Glidden Ralston going 2-2 with a double and an RBI. West Central Valley was victorious in five innings by a final score of 17-1.
