Storm Lake At Carroll

Storm Lake 1       (3 Innings)

 

Carroll scored 11-runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 1st and cruised to an impressive win over Storm Lake on Tuesday. The Tigers racked up 11 hits and 10 RBI for the game, while walking 3 times and being hit once. They had six different players with a hit and four players with multi hit games.

Vanessa Ayala started the onslaught in the 1st inning with a walk to load the bases. Makalei Kofron cleared the bases with a shot to centerfield. Averi Burke then reached on an error and stole 2nd base. Emma Kuhlmann picked up a  hit, scoring Burke. Alyssa Brant was hit-by-pitch and Parker Adams drove them both in. Brielle Hinners singled to score Ava Gross. Camryn Schable reached on a dropped third strike, Vanessa Ayala walked for the second time in the inning and Averi Burke doubled to score a pair of runs and the rout was on.

Brielle Hinners had a team high 3 hits, scoring twice. Parker Adams, Ava Gross and Makalei Kofron all had 2 hits with Gross  and Kofron both scoring twice and Kofron having a team high 4 RBI. Averi Burke had a double and 3 RBI. Alyssa Brant picked up the win going 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 2.

Carroll improves to 8-10 overall and will travel to Gilbert on Wednesday.

Tri Center At IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning scored 5 times in the bottom of the 1st and never looked back, leading the rest of the game and leading 7-2 at one point in the game. The Wolves finished with 10 hits and held Tri Center to 8 hits. They were aggressive on the base paths, bunting runners around, finishing with 4 sacrifices and several bunt singles. They put enough pressure on the Trojans defense they forced them into 5 errors leading to 9 unearned runs. Ella Richards was solid in the circle and the defense made enough plays behind her including throwing two baserunners out at 3rd and a runner at the plate to end the game.

Jessica Christensen doubled to start the bottom 1st, Ella Richards and Lauren Greving both put down sac bunts and reached base on errors with Christensen scoring. Brooke Booth singled to score Anna Stangl who ran for Richards and Greving who scored on the error. Alikxa McGinn singled and Hannah McKinney singled to score two runs. Tri Center scored top 3rd but IKM-Manning, as they would all night answered. Brooke Booth doubled and scored on a ground ball by Hannah McKinney. The Wolves tacked on another run in the 4th with Jessica Christensen doubling for the second time, stole 3rd and scored on an error. Tri Center mounted a comeback in the 5th inning, scoring 3 unearned runs to make it 7-5. The Wolves responded with with Alikxa McGinn doubling. Taylor Beckendorf singled and they both scored on a Trojan error. Tri Center added a pair of runs in the 6th but IKM-Manning picked up an insurance run in the bottom half. Ella Richards walked and Anna Stangl stole 2nd base, then scored on a single by Carlee Neil. Tri Center had a chance in the 7th with two runners on and 2 outs. A ball was hit to 3rd and squirted into left field. All the runners stopped but when the throw to the infield got away they took off and Taylor Beckendorf picked up the loose ball, threw it home to Jessica Christensen who tagged out the runner at the plate to end the game.

Jessica Christensen, Brooke Booth, Alikxa McGinn and Hannah McKinney all had 2 hits with Christensen doubling twice. Booth had a double and an RBI while McGinn scored twice and McKinney added 4 RBI. Ella Richards got the win, going all 7 innings, allowing 8 hits and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts.

IKM-Manning improves to 2-7 on the season and will host Griswold on Wednesday.

Kuemper At Lewis Central- Varsity Doubleheader

Kuemper rally fell just short in game 1 of a varsity doubleheader on Tuesday. The Knights scored 5 times in the 5th inning and once in the 6th but Lewis Central used a grand slam home run in the 5th to hold on for a 1 run victory. The Knights missed a chance early to take the lead, with three runners getting on in the 1st inning, but they stranded 2 on and didn’t score. They loaded the bases again in the 3rd but weren’t able to score. That set the table for Lewis Central to score in the 4th and take the lead. Their 3-0 lead was short lived as Kuemper broke through in the 5th inning. The Knights scored 5-runs to pull ahead 5-3. Lewis Central loaded the bases in the bottom half and a grand slam put them ahead 7-5. Kuemper got the leadoff runner on in the 6th and scored a run but went down in order in the 7th.

Melinda Schaefer started the 5th inning rally with a single, she was eventually thrown out at 3rd but a single by Jordan Schwabe and Kenzie Schon reaching on an error along with a single by Kenadee Loew loaded the bases. Schwabe and Schon scored on passed balls and Loew and Kaylie Diercksen, who walked scored on a single by Alexis Diercksen. Kamryn Venner drove in Alexis and Kuemper led 5-3. Schaefer reached on an error in the 6th and scored on an ground out by  Schwabe.

Melinda Schaefer led Kuemper with 3 hits, while Jordan Schwabe, Kenzie Schon and Alexis Diercksen all had 2 hits. Alexis Diercksen led the team with 2 RBI. Kamryn Venner took the loss, going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and 5 earned runs.

The loss drops the Knights to 9-12 overall and 6-4 in the Hawkeye 10. They will host Harlan on Thursday on 93.7 KKRL.

The game was called in the 7th inning due to lightening as Coon Rapids Bayard picked up the win. The Crusaders jumped out quickly with a 4-run 2nd inning to lead 5-0. Emma Hart was really tough in the circle and the defense was solid behind her. The offense collected 8 hits with a double and a triple.

Breeley Clayburg doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Emma Hart had a pair of hits and scored, while pitching a complete game, allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts. Malia Clayburg tripled and scored a run.

Coon Rapids Bayard improved to 7-5 overall. They will host Ogden on Wednesday.

Glidden Ralston pounded out 16 hits, including a home run from Vanessa Koehler as they roll to the win on the road. The Wildcats held Manson NW Webster to 5 hits and Koehler struck out 10 Cougars. Glidden Ralston was consistent on offense, scoring in five of the seven innings and scoring between two and four runs in each of the last 5 innings. Manson NW Webster scored a pair of runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. Five different Wildcats had multi hit games.

Vanessa Koehler was huge with 5 hits, including a home run and 3 RBI. She scored twice. Elizabeth Lloyd had 4 hits, including a double and drove in 3-runs. Kassidy Wenck, Ashlynn Tigges and Brenna Bowman all had 2 hits. Tigges had a pair of RBI. Koehler, Wenck, Summer Toms, Brileigh Bock and Grace Lensch all scored twice. Koehler got the win, allowing 5  hits and 3 earned runs with 10 strikeouts.

The Wildcats sit 5-6 on the season and will head to Boyer Valley on 93.7 KKRL on Wednesday.

MVAOCOU pulled away late and then held on to top East Sac in a closer game than the final score indicates. The Raiders led 2-1 heading into the 4th and trailed 4-2 going into the 6th. A pair of runs in the 6th gave the Rams the cushion they needed to drop the Raiders to 2-7 on the season. East Sac finished with 7 hits but no player had more than 1. Both or East Sac runs were scored in the 3rd inning on a 2-run home run by Jamie Pierce that scored Anna McCollough.

Mary Bontrager, Meredith Brown, Kami Ross, Jen Aschinger, Maci Gustavson, Jamie Pierce and Gracie Snyder all had base hits. Gustavson took the loss, allowing 7 hits and 6 runs in 7 innings.

The Raiders head to SE Valley on Wednesday.
