Kuemper took control after a short rain delay, getting a good pitching performance by Mason Knerl and a solid day at the plate with 9 hits as a team. Knerl held Garrigan to 4 hits and allowed only 2-runs early in the game as Garrigan took advantage of a walk and hit-by-pitch. He allowed only two baserunners the rest of the game and one of them was taken off base with a double play.

Kuemper scored a run in the 1st inning, but got rolling in the 3rd inning. Carter Putney opened the inning with a single, followed by a walk from Logan Sibenaller and a double by Benicio Lujano, driving in both runs. Lujano scored on a sacrifice by Cal Wanninger. Max Irlmeier walked later in the inning and scored on a Koby Lampman single. Kuempere led 5-2 at that point, extending it to 7-2 with two more runs in the 4th inning. They would put the game away in the 5th inning with 5-runs, highlighted by singles by John Boes, Koby Lampman and Carter Putney. Logan Sibenaller, Benicio Lujano, John Boes, Jared Hausman and Carter Putney all had RBI in the inning.

Koby Lampman and Carter Putney each had 3  hits to pace the Knights offense, John Boes added a pair of hits and 2 RBI. Benicio Lujano had 3 RBI and scored twice. Cal Wannninger and John Boes each drove in a pair of runs. Mason Knerl went the distance for the win, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs.

A 6-run 6th inning propelled Remsen St Mary’s past Kuemper in the CYO Championship game. The Knights rallied from down 3-0 in the 1st inning to trail 3-2 heading into the 6th. The Hawks used a pair of hits to start their run, then took advantage of a pair of Knight errors. They had 7 straight batters reach base during the scoring run.

Kuemper scored twice in the 3rd inning, pulling within 3-2. Benicio Lujano walked and Cal Wanninger reached on an error, scoring Lujano. Wanninger took 3rd on the error and scored on a ball by Max Irlmeier. The Knights put runners on 1st and 3rd in the 5th but weren’t able to score and had Carter Putney thrown out at home in the 7th.

Max Irlmeier and Cooper Pottebaum had Kuemper only 2 hits in the game. Cal Wanninger and Benicio Lujano who walked twice and was hit once scored their runs.

Coon Rapids Bayard collected 11 hits in their first game of their classic and needed all of them as they outscored Bedford 15-12. The Crusaders fell down in the top of the 1st inning but exploded for 7-runs in the bottom half and led 7-3. They surrendered the lead in the 3rd when Bedford scored 4 times, then added 2 more runs in the 4th. Another big inning for the Crusaders saved them, scoring 6 times in the 5th inning to take a 13-11 lead. Bedford added a run in the 6th inning but the Crusaders scored a pair in the bottom half.

The Crusaders had three players with multiple hits with Easton Hays and Preston McAlister each with 3 and Kolby Culbertson with a pair of hits. Gabe Obert doubled for their only extra base hit. Preston McAlister drove in 3-runs. Easton Hays, Lance Clayburg, Tanner Oswald and Parker Hays all scored twice. Easton Hays went 4 1/3 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs and Jacob Estrada went 2 2/3 innings, allowing 7 earned runs.

The Crusaders collected 7 hits with 3 of them going for extra bases, including a home run from Gabe Obert, his 2nd of the season. They swept their two games on Saturday, using explosive offense and in the win over Pleasantville, they got a great pitching performance from Preston McAlister, throwing a no-hitter. The offense scored 5 times in the 2nd, then added 4-runs in both the 3rd and 5th innings.

Easton Hays and Lance Clayburg both had multiple hits with Clayburg doubling and tripling for his 2 hits. Hays drove in 3 runs and scored twice while Clayburg had a pair of RBI and scored twice. Gabe Obert hit 3 sacrifices to go along with his home run. He drove in 4 RBI and scored once. Tanner Oswald, Jacob Estrada and Parker Hays all scored twice. Preston McAlister went the distance, striking out 4 while allowing no hits.

Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 9-1 and will head to CAM Anita for a huge conference game on Monday night. The Crusaders hold a 1 game lead in the loss column on the Cougars in the league as CAM enters the game 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the league.

The Raiders were no hit in the game on Saturday afternoon, falling in 5 inning. Preston Mauer scored their lone run in the 2nd inning. Cherokee scored 4-runs in the 1st inning but back to back 5-run innings in the 3rd and 4th innings put the game away.

East Sac falls to 0-4 on the season and will host Pocahontas Area on Monday on KIKD 106.7.

Ar-We-Va At IKM-Manning

Ar-We-Va took the early lead but IKM-Manning battled back to pick up their 3rd straight win, improving to 4-4 on the season. The Wolves scored two runs in the 4th inning to tie the game at 4, that was after Ar-We-Va had scored 3 times in the 1st inning and once in the top 4. IKM-Manning took the lead for good in the 5th with 3-runs. The Rockets rallied late but it fell short. Both teams finished with 10 hits with Ar-We-Va finishing with 3 doubles and IKM-Manning with 1.

Max Nielsen, Lane Sams and Kaiden Barry all had 2 hits with Ben Ramsey and Max Neilsen driving in a run apiece. Kaiden Barry scored a pair of runs. Cooper Perdew had a double. Perdew also picked up the win, going 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs as the Wolves only allowed 3 earned runs. He struck out 4.

Cooper Kock and Wade Ragaller led the Ar-We-Va attack with 3 hits each with both having a double. Will Ragaller added 2 hits with one a double. Will Ragaller and Blayne Smith each scored twice. Braeden Kirsch took the loss, going 5 innings and giving up just 2 earned runs. He allowed 8 hits and struck out 1 while walking 3.

IKM-Manning takes their 4-4 record to Treynor on Monday while Ar-We-Va sits at 0-6 and will travel to West Harrison on Monday.
