Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Area Softball Teams Go 3-4 on Wednesday

Ogden At Kuemper

Kuemper picked up their second straight win, stringing hits together in several innings to build a 6-0 lead. The Knights finished with 11 hits and had eight different players with at least one hit.

Melinda Schafer started a one out rally in the 1st inning with a single. She scored on a triple from Jordan Schwabe who then scored on a single by Kenzie Schon giving Kuemper a 2-0 lead. They expanded the lead in the 3rd when Hailey Ostrander singled and scored on a single by Schwabe who them scored on a single by Kamryn Venner. Kuemper had four straight singles in the inning from Schwabe, Schon, Kenadee Loew and Venner that followed a single by Ostrander and started with one out with Schwabe. Kaci Peter singled to start the 4th inning. She scored along with Melinda Schaefer who singled and scored on a sac fly by Schwabe. The Kuemper defense had been solid behind Chloe Venteicher all game but an error to start the 7th inning allowed Ogden to gain momentum. They added a pair of singles and a double to pull within 2 runs but a groundout to Schaefer at 2nd base ended the game.

Melinda Schaefer, Jordan Schwabe and Kenzie Schon all had 2 hits with Schwabe tripling and driving in 3 runs. Schaefer and Schwabe both scored 2 runs. Chloe Venteicher was really strong in the circle, going all 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs with a pair of strikeouts.

The Knights improve to 3-4 on the season and will host Ridge View on Thursday.

Bondurant Farrar At Carroll

Carroll hung tough and led early but Bondurant Farrar was able to slowly pull away and send the Tigers to their second straight loss. Camryn Schable drove in a pair of runs in the 1st inning, giving Carroll a 2-1 lead. Bondurant Farrar responded in the 2nd inning, tying the game at 2, then took the lead for good with a four run 3rd inning. The Bluejays added a run in the 4th and 5th inning, then put the game away with a pair of runs in the 7th. Carroll finished with 8 eights and had give different players collect a hit.

Camryn Schable swung a hot bat for the second night in a row, finishing with 3 of the Tigers 8 hits, including a double that drove in a pair of runs. Brenna Goins added a pair of hits and Makalei Kofron had a double.

The loss drops the Tigers to 3-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play. They travel to Carlisle on Thursday.

East Sac held off a late rally by Emmetsburg to pick up their first win of the season, improving to 1-1. They ended the game with a strikeout with a runner at 3rd base after Emmetsburg had already scored a pair of runs in the inning. East Sac only trailed once as they grabbed a 2-1 lead after the 1st inning. They extended the lead to 3-1 in the 4th. then responded in the 5th after Emmetsburg scored a pair of runs to tie the game. The Raiders gained control again with 3-runs in the bottom half then added 2 more in the 6th inning.

The Raiders collected 15 hits, with eight different players having at least one. Mary Bontrager and Gracie Snyder each had 3 hits with Snyder doubling. Meredith Brown, Aleisha Thayer and Kami Ross all  had 2 hits with Brown scoring twice. Jen Aschinger drove in 2 runs. Maci Gustavson picked up the win, going all 7 innings with 8 strikeouts including a strikeout to end the game with a runner on 3rd base. She allowed 5 hits.

The Raiders sit 1-1 on the season and will host OA-BCIG on Thursday on KIKD 106.7.

Coon Rapids Bayard good start to the season continued with a win at Whiting on Wednesday, improving them to 3-1 on the season. It took the Crusaders  offense a while to get going, but once they did they were able to end the game in the 6th inning. They were able to score 13-runs on just 8 eights, taking advantage of 5 walks. They opened up the lead with a 4-run, 4th inning and blew it open with a 6-run, 6th inning.

Lacie Davis, Miranda McClellan and Breeley Clayburg all had 2 hits. McClellan drove in 4-runs and scored twice. Laci Davis scored 3 times and Emma Hart, Kadey Olson and Lydia Hofbauer all scored twice. Davis picked up the win going 5 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 0 earned runs with 8 strikeouts.

The Crusaders head to Audubon on Thursday on 93.7 KKRL.

The Rockets scored 4 times in the 2nd inning but Woodbine was able to find ways to score runs, using 5 hits to score 12 runs, but only 3 of those were earned as the Rocket defense struggled. The Rockets were no hit in the game, using 4 walks and a pair of  hit-by-pitches to score their runs.

Maggie Ragaller drove in a pair of runs and Kora Obrecht and Sophie Jackson both had an RBI. Jamie Hausman, Kora Obrecht, Karime Sanchez and Trista Reis all scored.

The Rockets fell to 0-4 overall and the Rolling Valley Conference. They host River Valley on Thursday.

The game was closer than the score indicates, slipping away from Glidden Ralston late. The Wildcats trailed 3-0 heading into the 5th inning. The Spartans were able to force a few walks and some defensive miscues to score 4-runs in the 5th inning and 3 more in the 6th inning to end the game.

Elizabeth Lloyd doubled for the only hit the Wildcats.

The loss drops them to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They travel to MVAOCOU on Thursday.

South Central Calhoun got their offense going scoring in four of the five innings and scoring multiple runs in three of those innings. GTRA also had a big night offensively, scoring 21 runs. South Central Calhoun finished with 12 hits, having three players with multiple hits.

Keira Hammen, Gracie Hungate and Evelyn Kramer all finished with 3 hits with Hammen and Kramer doubling. Emma Anderson, Mady Smidt, Keira Hammen and Evelyn Kramer all doubled. Hammen led the team with 3-runs scored while Anderson scored twice.

The loss drops South Central Calhoun to 0-3. They head to Ogden on Thursday.
