Kuemper bats were rolling early, and their pitching was outstanding on Wednesday as they even their record at 1-1. The Knights collected 12 hits, helping to score 9 runs but also left 6 guys on base. The defense was solid behind Logan Sibenaller, who struck out 8 while walking 2 and giving up 1 hit in a complete game win. Sibenaller didn’t just do it on the mound. He had a great night at the plate going 3-4, driving in 3 runs. Cal Wanninger, John Boes and Trevor Rial also had solid night at the plate with 2 hits each.
The Knights struck for a pair of runs in the 1st inning. Logan Sibenaller led off the inning with a single and scored on a base hit by Cal Wanninger. Wanninger scored the second run of the inning on a base hit by Trevor Rial. They added a pair of runs in the 2nd inning to lead 4-0 then blew the game open in the 3rd inning with 4 runs. Max Irlmeier, Cooper Pottebaum and Nate Heinrichs all singled and came in to score as Logan Sibenaller added a 2 run single. Carter Putney picked up an RBI on a sac fly before the Sibenaller hit. The Knights added the final run in the 6th.
Kuemper is off until Monday, when they travel to Webster City.

The game was moved to Coon Rapids Bayard due to field conditions and the Crusaders were able to pick up their first win of the season, dropping Glidden Ralston to 0-2. The Crusaders scored 7 times in the 1st inning and 6 more in the 2nd inning. Glidden Ralston got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd.
Coon Rapids Bayard finished with 6 hits with Lance Clayburg picking up a pair of hits, including a double and 4 RBI. Kolby Culbertson added a double and 2 RBI. Cal Heydon drove in a pair of runs and 3 times.
Jackson Sklenar picked up a hit for the Wildcats and Jonathan Burgmeier scored the lone run.
The Crusaders start the season 1-0 and will host Exira-EHK on Monday. Glidden Ralston falls to 0-2 and will host AC-GC on Friday.
